Brother SE 270D

I want to buy my daughter a sewing/embroidery machine. She loves Disney, and has a 1 year old baby, so I'm sure she'd use it. The only dealers we have here only sell Bernina, Pfaff, and Viking, which I think are way too expensive for me. I thought the Brother SE 270D would be the perfect machine. But one of the dealers here said they are terrible machines and the service from Brother is even worse. I would have to buy it over the internet. Does anyone have an opinion or advice? I've also been told by several peopl that one of the dealers has a terrible rep for servicing their own machines(that's the one who told me to stay away from Brother)and the other one has only been in business for a year and isn't doing that well.
