Brother SE270D

I have a question re: spaces between words using the fonts built into the Brother SE 270D. For Example: How would I place a space between two words like Let's Go!. The manual does not seem to address this and I have played around with the machine but cannot seem to get it to place a space between letters. Can anyone out there help?

use the _ figure, it won't show in your stitch out!
