The basic Embird program does editing and resizing and format conversions. You can buy a digitizing plug in that doesn't cost much (about $150 I think) and from what I have read, it works very well! You can see what the different Embird components do on the My Embroidery Haven website (www.myembroideryhaven.com). Marie at MEH is VERY knowledgeable about Embird.

Also, you can check out the Martha Pullen machine embroidery forum and do a search on Embird. Lots of ladies there use it and you can learn a lot about it just from reading the posts there.

I downloaded the embird program a week or so ago and have never been more confused learning to use any computer program. I will admit this is my first time for embroidery software, but I have been working with computers and learning many different types of software for 20 years. The whole suite seems backwards to me. I have difficulty understanding how I start with my photo in studio, then on to the editor, and then the file manager. Is that the order? I'm still very lost. I'll give it another week. susan.

Susan, I haven't used Embird a whole lot, and I don't have Studio, but the editing I have done in Embird is about a thousand percent easier than my version of PE Design (it's old). Hopefully it will click for you.

Thanks, gentle embroiderers. Today was the first time I actually felt as if I was getting somewhere. I found on the web, two places where people had you walk through a whole project. I made a number of mistakes and had to redo things a few times, but at least I did make progress. I have looked through the embird tutorials, but all I have seen are explantations of features. Are there project based practice sections, too? I will always admit to missing something. susan.
