electrolytic capacitors

I am building a kit and have 2 electrolytic capacitors to mount. I need to know which lead is + . The two leads come out the same end with one lead being shorter than the other. Also there is a gray band that runs the length of the capacitor and ends at the short lead. The capacitors are black in color. There are no + or - markings on the capacitors. PLEASE HELP Bill

    The "line" is negative, which should also be the shorter lead.

    True, the line (whatever color it is) is the negative. Could be dark blue line on light blue background as well.
