It does seem like a cable company setting. From the looks of it , it is highly unlikely to be a compatibility issue. It could either be that the hdmi cable is defective or tuner settings/limitations.

I do not have the remote for tv. Been told it has a zoom button. I set up my DVD player using component cables and the auto mode selection is still non-selectable.

You'll find it's easy to find a "universal" remote to buy that will operate your TV.

Some people buy them even when they have the multiple remotes for their various pieces of equipment, because many can be used as one remote to operate all the devices you have.

i found the manual online and it listed the remote part no. they are $20 or so online. only paid 30 for tv and i dont really want to double my purchase price. gotta pay shipping extortion for online stuff.
