| My 20 year old Sony Trinitron has developed a problem. The picture is getting cropped at the sides, as if it's too big for the screen. Other than that it's seems to be as good as it was the day I first got it. Because of it's age I rather not invest in profeesional repairs, plus, it would be a real hassle getting it out to a facility. Is there anything I can do on my own without getting electrocuted? |

depending on model number, there may be a width adjustment,

| I bet the 'cropping' you are seeing is the halfbaked way the broadcasters are converting HD signals. If you have a DVD connected, are the pictures from it normal? Otherwise the width adjustment may do it. I had a tv make a zap sound, and the picture was suddenly squeezed top and bottom. Adjusted picture size and expected it to fail, but as far as I know, it's still working, 20 years later. |
