| I want to convert or tune an old CB radio to transmit FM frequencies to use it to retransmit my satellite radio signal to my backyard, garage, throughout my house, etc.
The CB radio I have is a Midland Intl. Model: MDL-13-882C. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. |

| A CB radio !!! You rialise that a "stock" one puts out about four watts. That's enough to transmit several MILES. The point is moot, anyway. There's no way you're gonna' make a CB into a decent FM transmitter. Here's why... - Both driver and final transistors won't do well at that frequency. They may work, yet will be inefficient. - The tuning networks would have to be replaced. That's several dozen components right there. - You'll have to convert the AM rig to transmit FM. - There's no easy way to generate the frequencies you want. Multiplying the 27 MHz output by three gives 81 MHz - TV channel 5. 27 x 4 give 108 MHz. That's a wee bit to close to the aircraft band for my comfort. - Even if you tackle all of these issues, it won't be transmitting in stereo. You're much better off buying a kit designed for transmitting FM stereo. Look online...they're out there. Peace. Marco |
