I just purchased my first Sony Bravia 50" LCD DLP television and would like to add a sound/speaker system to take advantage of the enhanced sounds. I have no need for a dvd/blue ray, etc player at this time, as I don't intend on renting any movies, etc. (Have never done it and am satisfied with just watching what comes on television or what I record).

Anyways, the home theatre systems I have seen all seem to come with the dvd or blue ray devices. Is it possible to just purchase an amplified speaker system to enhance the television or am I way off base. I slso do not wish to spend a lot of money and would appreciate your input, observations and suggestions.

Don't buy a system just a surround sound receiver and then a speaker package to go with it. Here is an affordable example from Sony. There are many, many, many offerings from other manufacturers available.

(BTW, Sony doesn't make a DLP, just LCD and SXRD)
