Some things like TVs and DVD players last for several years but the new products seem to change every couple of years.

Can you recommend an forums on purchasing new electronic products?

Are you looking for a forum to learn about stuff or a forum on which to buy stuff?

I have found the AVS Forums to be quite helpful for everything electronic.

Here is a link that might be useful: AVS Forums

Yesterday Slate had an article Amazon's cell phone app about cutting edge advances in purchasing electronics.

May I tack on? What about one for *buying*, please?

I'm looking for a small (maybe 19") TV w/DVR for a bedroom. Have cable feed.

Here's a couple websites I've found helpful:

Steve's Digicams - everything you ever wanted to know about digital cameras; buying guides, reviews, discussion forums, etc.

Anything But IPod - All about MP3 players (except Apple); reviews, discussion forums, comparison shopping, etc.

Both sites are remarkably free of advertising.
