How does one clean a remote?

We've a well used Dish remote that is getting a bit sluggish and I wonder if a cleaning will make the keys more responsive.

Symptoms manifest: one must depress each key very firmly and carefully or that key does not show on the screen. A simple blow out with some compressed air don't help much.

You need to get to the circuit board inside and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser.
