| I have one of the Scientific Atlanta IR extenders for a cable box. One end has a receiver eye, and the other a usb for power and a transmitter led. The cable has 4 wires, one green, white, black, and one without a jacket. I assume the last one is the ground? I wonder if I terminate the ends with female cat5E plugs, could I use my existing cat5E cable to transmit the signal? I tried to do this before, but forgot to unplug the usb and think I blew the transmitter, so I was curious if this should even work in theory before I order another. |
