 o
Speakers around fireplace - help needed

We are designing new house and looking for some brilliant ideas for how we can have good quality speakers for the TV and hifi. The TV will be situated on a wall above a low, linear modern gas fireplace (so that the TV can be at the right height for viewing, rather than 6' in the air, plus we like the modern style).

We have looked at various options, including building in shelf recesses into the TV wall to house shelf speakers (husband thinks shelf speakers are not good enough for hifi), using wall speakers that are built into the wall and just have a grille showing, and just having good floorstanding speakers which sit either side of the fireplace. Husband's preference for sound quality is the floorstanding speakers, but they are going to ruin the clean edges of the fireplace and so aesthetically they are not the most pleasing.

Anyone got any fabulous ideas?

Speakers can be hung either off the walls or ceiling. In wall wiring will have to be installed and run to an av cabinet.

Orb audio is having a 10th anniversary special. Their speakers are (at least) on par with Anthony Gallo 's
