Magnavox 20' TV Model# 20MS3442/17

My TV (Magnavox 20' TV Model# 20MS3442/17) turns on and off by itself.

At first it would turns itself on (or off if it was on) every 5-10 minutes, I took out the batteries in the remote control and this problem didn't go away and had to pull off the plug. Now after one day if I plugs it back, it will keep switching on/off very often (several times in 10 seconds).

Would somebody tell me what's wrong with the TV and how to fix it? I really don't want to miss 'House':(

Many thanks, Y
