Playing portable radio AM/FM on portable speaker?

I plan to go to the drive in and since my car has an upgraded sound system running off an amp I can't use it because the battery will be dead within half an hour.
As an alternative, I plan to use a portable speaker http://www.amazon.com/G-Project-Wireless-Bluetooth-Boombox-Speaker/dp/B00CKYVYI6 . I figured okay, I can just get a small am/fm radio, plug the headphone jack into the radio and it will play the radio station!
I tried with 2 different radios and they worked fine until I hooked it up to the portable speaker and I just heard static. After some research I realized the headphones acted as an antenna. I then bought a digital radioshack portable radio with a built in antenna http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=23384226 . This still is not working - just static.
I cant find the station on an app through my phone either.
Does anyone know what I'm missing? Or if this is even possible?
