Magnavox 27MS3404R TV Power On Issue

I have a 6 yr old Magnavox 27MS3404R 27" Color TV that just recently started having an issue during power on. The picture will be wavy and twisted (sound is audible). After a second or two, the picture and sound will go off but the green power light remains on. I have to turn the set off and on several times, with the picture getting better each time, until the picture is finally clear and the set remains on. The process sometimes only takes 2-3 times and sometimes it takes 10-15 times before the picture is clear and the set remains on. I am NOT well versed with electronics; however, I'm not afraid to get inside and attempt anything (I'm pretty good with my hands). Please let me know if there is anything that I can attempt to do myself. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
