Magnavox Projection TV Model 55P8288A

I have a Magnavox Projection TV model 55P8288A (I think it is 55"). After the TV has been on for an hour or two, the sound continues, but no picture shows. When this happens, I cannot turn the TV off by remote or manually with the TV buttons. I have to unplug the TV. After it sets for awhile, the TV turns back on and everything works fine for a few more hours. Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

i have the same Projection 55" TV Model 55P8288A (manufactured in 2002) that was left by my son when he moved out of the house, ie, the tv turns itself off after 15 mins or so. Magnavox also told me to unplug for a few seconds and it worked for a while but the same problem keeps coming back. can anybody help us. i called up a tv repair shop and they're charging me $150 just to take a look at it (i now work part-time). thanks much,
