I found a posting from a couple of years ago that describes my problem exactly, but could not find an answer in the forum. Here is the text of the original message:

RE: Philips/Magnavox Tv Problems ?

I am having a Magnavox TV horizontal problem. My set has perfect sound but the horizontal hold seems to be going out, on rare occasions it works fine, but most times it seems to be trying to get a lock. The Model number is TS2760 C207 and the chassis number is 27E508-00AA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Was this ever answered? If not, does anyone know how to deal with this? I could not find any internal controls for horizontal sync, but I am not afraid of electronic servicing, if I can only find out how to deal with this (I started fixing TVs in 1956 and am now semi-retired after 40+ years in the electronics industry).
