What TV to get? Help!

I need a new TV and have no idea how to proceed. I have a cabinet it is going in (where the current TV is). I figure I can only fit a 22 inch, as the opening in the cabinet is a tad over 26 wide and almost 20 tall. I don't know anything about brands now a days (My parents were in the appliance business years ago--- none of those brands still exist)or what to look for, what's a good deal, etc. Help!
