Yes, I believe you have a thermal problem in the power supply. It could affect the standby voltage supply which supplies power to the remote control circuits. You could remove the back cover and carefully look in the power supply section for any component that has discolored the mainboard on which it is mounted or any discoloration indicting a component that is or being subjected to excessive heat. Another way of troubleshooting is to spray Freeze-Mist or Component Cooler on suspected components to see if it can locate which component is on the brink of total failure.
