No Power to VCR

Posted by lyoder2 (My Page) on

I have an RCA VCR model VR646HF. Is probably 10 years old not used too much and has worked fine. Now seems to get no power. Have checked cord and connections but nothing happens when power button is pushed. I am looking for any ideas as to what internal problem might have occured. There is no sound or anything and display/clock does not come on.

Thanks for any ideas,
Leo

Check the fuse. Unplug the unit, remove the cover, it should be by the power supply (where the cord enters the back).

When you said you checked the cord and connections, did you try a different outlet?

You could have had an electrical surge, particularly if your VCR wasn't plugged into a surge protector. VCR's are so inexpensive now that it is cheaper and far more reliable to buy a new or re-built one.
