Magnavox 26mf/32mf231d volume shuts off

on our new lcd flat screen tv, the volume will just shut off randomly. The repair man basically said I was imagining it, but many family members have also experienced it. The only way to make the volume come back on is to shut off the tv and turn it back on. Our picture is fine the whole time. Any suggestions????
