I have a 1991 Sony Trinitron (KV-27TS27) that has faithfully been providing me service all these years, even though I relegated it a while back to the basement where the kids use it now on a daily basis. Everything worked fine up until a few weeks ago when the set refused to tune in any VHF stations (2,4,7). The UHF stations (including 62-CBS) all work fine. I Just have rabbit ears on it, but took it upstairs and hooked it up to my roof antenna with the same static/snow-filled result.
So I'm guessing it's a VHF tuner inside. Any idea how to replace this? (I replaced/soldered in an audio/sound chip in it a few years back with no problems.) The set worked beautifully up until just recently. Any idea on what is wrong and how to fix it? I'm a true-blue DIYer and can't bring myself to throw it away if it can be saved. Thanks.
