I have a 27" Sony tv that was a Christmas gift 4 years ago. Last night while I was watching it, I heard a click and the screen went blank, no audio either. Next to the power button is a small Standby/Timer light that keeps blinking. The first thing I did when the tv went off was to look at the remote which was near me and see if one of the cats had walked over it but there were no cats in the room. What should I do?

The light usually blinks 4 times between pauses.

This is a link to a post which could give you a POSSIBLE cause of your problem with your tv. The codes may vary from model year to model year. "Many of the later model Sony TV’s have a built in self-diagnosis function. If the timer/standby indicator is blinking, this could be an indication of a problem with the unit. The diagnostic blinking will occur automatically with no action required by you to engage it."
