26MD255V menu scrolling making TV unwatchable

I have a Magnavox 26MD255V/17 26 inch LCD TV and when you turn it on, you can watch maybe 5 minutes of TV before the menu starts scrolling through the input selections, muting sound off and on... like it is possessed. Is there a fix for this that I can try myself before taking this in for service? Please Help! PeeWee - are you out there????
