Philips TV problem

There are more than 100 problem reports on consumer report Web-site dealing with the problem with unit turning off and trying to turn on. the following is the way I made it work.
When you attempt to revive the unit the start light comes on and immediately the red light comes on and remains on with a blank screen. You can switch the power button on the side of unit all day long to no avail.
In fact the only way you can turn off the red light is to disconnect the unit from the power source.
I finally found that as long as the unit is plugged in the AC it would not work.
So I went out and purchased a switchable power strap and installed the unit's power cord.
Guess what? As long as I turn the unit on and off by the power strap it has never failed!
Good luck.
