warranty or no warranty

I will be purchasing a Sony KDS50A200, basically a 50" rear projection tv.

I'm having a hard time researching the validity of extended warranties on newer tv models like this one. Have most of you purchased extended warranties? Just curious.

I realize there may be two different types,--- one for just bulb replacement and one that is more comprehensive.

Nice TV.

You have to weigh the costs of the warranties versus what they cover.
Many extra warranty programs cover repairs and a lamp replacement. Other warranty programs cover repairs but not lamp replacement.
On average, figure 1 lamp replacement every 3-5 years.

I hope it's a decent one. We did a lot of research on it.
