I have a HDTV and a standard DVD player. Lately when I play a DVD, the picture quality is very dark. I try to adjust the brightness and contrast on the TV, but it doesn't work. Is there something wrong with my connections? Are the newer DVDs not compatable with a standard player?

When you say "newer DVDs" do you mean a Blu Ray disc?
|
Not Blu Ray, but just regular DVDs. Last year, I switched the component cables to a HDMI/DVI cable to get a better picture on my TV. That may have changed the picture quality on the DVDs.

Just switch back to an analog connection to see if it improves again. At least you're then sure if that is or isn't the cause.
