Beautiful Actaeas, dandy_line, whichever they are! I don't know any tips for a for-sure ID, but if anything my guess would be that you have Actaea rubra with white berries, which can also happen. The A. pachypoda has a much longer flowerhead, usually, while the A. rubra is more rounded. Did they flower at the same time? My rubra was way earlier than my pachypoda, and its berries are starting to drop off now. The berries on my pachypoda haven't even fully ripened yet. PS I only know for sure what mine are because I bought them at a reputable native plant nursery! I found a link that might help--check the dots and berry stems (pedicels). This also make me think you have a Red Baneberry with white berries, from what I can see in the pic, but you would be a much better judge in person! In the early days of nobile/softcane Dendrobium breeding other species were used and Rentoul says that some of the early breeding was shrouded in mystery. I wonder where the colours on hybrids such as Yukidaruma 'King' and 'Queen' came from. Perhaps from a variety of the nobile species or perhaps from an infusion of other species. Australia is a bit closer to the source than Brazil and the only nobile species seen here are the alba form and various forms of mauve colour. This is not to say that your plant is not a variation of the species but it just illustrates the problems that crop up from time to time. In any case it is still a lovely flower.

Close enough. ;) Self-seeding is encouraging. If only I could make sure that my area is what it likes then perhaps white BB will do just as well. How tolerant is A. Rubra of drought? In KY, we tend to get precious little rain in the summer before we are rewarded in Fall and Spring with rain.
