You're welcome! It's not odd that cooler zones will report more fragrance from many than warmer areas. Those in the cooler places are probably smelling them when the oils and alcohols are most volatile and smell the most. We in the warmer areas often miss out because they evaporate faster as the heat increases. Also, as aridity increases, the scents burn out faster. The various components of each rose's fragrance evaporate at different rates, so one may smell very Damask at first, quickly morphing into orris or citrus, finishing a completely different scent before losing any detectable trace for the day. You like those Fl. roses?? In a private garden with daily care, roses on fortuniana root stock look much cleaner. Some of those roses have been around for a few (?) years. When staking my fortuniana roses I always use brown or black "panty hose". While living in Fl., I went over there twice. Really nice display of a good variety of different roses. I use to hear people say you can't grow good roses in Florida ALL the time. Yeah, right. You should see this garden in early April :)

Crosstown Traffic looks so nice!! Of course, they all do. Michigan Magic needs to get it going. In my backyard, it was a star. And it wasn't short. I rescued it and moved it to the front yard where it is sulking a bit this year. Luckily for it, I remember those years of good performance, so will give it some time to recover. One thing I really liked, besides the nice color, was how it was a beautiful dormant...emerging in the spring so nicely. It made me think all daylilies should come up like that. Ha.
