Bird Watching
Comments (62)Look at those wide open mouths! Great shot Brenda! I needed a little R&R this evening after a crazy week at work and trying to get caught up with the grass after two weeks of rain and trying to get ready for installers next week, so I decided to spend some time this evening with the birds and the camera. And the bird gods smiled on me as I saw my first mockingbird! A common bird for many but I had never seen one so now I can add it to my yard-list. I was sitting in the garage mounting the camera on the tripod when he landed on the driveway and stood real still for his portrait. Shortly after that an indigo bunting appeared. This is the closest I have been able to get to one, they usually stay in the tops of the trees. They have a cheerful song and sing all through the day and evening so a wonderful bird to have around. This one is either still molting into his bright blue attire or is a first year male and still developing his mating colors. And an interesting shot of his tongue!...See Morenew: new obf for the birds january 2011 swap
Comments (150)Hi everyone. Hope you are all keeping warm. I have to admit, we haven't even really seen winter at its worse, but already I am sick and tired of snow. I am seriously considering moving somewhere where there is no snow. I can always come back to visit. All the boxes are great. Love to hear what everyone has sent and the enthusiasm of the recipient. I agree Shirley, it's like Christmas. Speaking of christmas. My tree is still alive and going strong. I put it outside in the stand, of course the water is frozen solid and under a foot or two of snow. We strung berries and oranges and nuts, pinecones slathered in peanut butter and then rolled in seed, all over the tree. The birds are going insane to say the least. I haven't wintersowed a thing. i decided this year i'll just go out and sprinkle seeds everywhere. i was getting prepared but then we got hit with the first snow and then the next one and then the cold and then more snow...so i said the heck with it. It sure is another cold one tonight. I think we are going down to about 9 degrees. guess i'll take that as opposed to minus any degree. hoping i will be able to join in february's swap. love the simplicity of it, but then i can execute on that...that's what craps me up with swapping LOL just an issue i need to get over. well, that's it for now. i have an early morning tomorrow. be well everyone, stay warm and remember....Spring is on Monday, 21 March 2011...56 days, 19 hours remain. maryanne p.s. mellen, i would love that website/link as well....See MoreBunnies and Birds Spring Table
Comments (13)Karen, the lg bunnies aren't cute but I was thrilled to find them at that price. DS was down for dinner tonight and I forgot to ask if he'd like the BC. I had so much fun playing with his little yorkie. Pat, thanks for the comments on the birdcage and green and white table. Now looking at it I should of placed a smaller white plate on top. Nana, I love finding great buys on things. They only had 2 bunnies or some might of hopped on over to your house. Jane, the bird cage is so large and I have the perfect place in DS's home for it. Who knows he may not want it. He's pretty picky about how his home's decorated. I snatched those plates up quick when I seen the price. Wish they would of had more of the others. I got 2 lg white plates for $1 too. Jeanne, the candles came with those little matching papers under them. You ladies are making me think I should rethink giving the bird cage to DS.LOL How would you decorate it? Thanks so much for all your comments on this table. I added a white plate on top. What do you all think? I think it looks better. Punk...See MoreLooking for crocheted blanket for child's doll bed
Comments (7)When my grandaughter Taylor was little she had a crocheted baby blanket that she carried everywhere...It was always dragging on the floor, getting caught in the car door...all those things. She didn't sleep under it...she just hung on to it. So I thought I'd be smart and make her a small one (doll size) I bought varigated bright neon colors..I thought she'd love it. I just double crocheted rows until I got it to the size I wanted then crocheted a scallop around the edge. She hated it...would have nothing to do with it..LOL..and it took me a loooong time. After she got a little older she used it for her dolly's...but she never was much into dolls until she got old enough for Barbies. patti...See Moremnjules06_gmail_com
