Hi, Instead of fitting snugly on the top of your head there is a bit of play or space. So the top part above the band is a bit loose fitting instead of that snug fit you get with a watch cap. The hat fits down over you head in watch cap style, just not the snug fit of a watch cap. I have gone back twice to a couple of very good free pattern sites, Crochet Pattern Central and the Crochet & Creaft Link Index as I am sure that is where I found it. But after spending a long time looking twice, now, I have not located the pattern. Unfortunately it was listed as a "crocheted hat" and boy there are a ton listed that way. The only directions given were, the person said she just did half double crochets until she got the desired fullness and than decreased or single crocheted until it fit the way she wanted it. No two hats came out the same, was one of her comments.
