your favorite free pattern site?

I have gotten a few free doll/angel patterns from www.dollmakersjourney.com, which I really like. Does anyone else have another site to recommend? I am looking for the simple art doll type patterns that you can embellish by painting the fabric or beading them.

What about Inkastamps doll pattern? Joint her with beads.

Accu-cut has a die cut of an interesting of a jointed doll that would make a neat pattern if you could find a store with the die.

Thanks Kathy- Of course you should know I've left my footprints all over Inkastamps site by now, lol! This one was for a (gasp!) sewing project for a goddess challenge. I am making "the wall angel" and using deerskin. Simple enough for me!

Who is your favorite quilt pattern designer / quilter?

I'd have to say Ruth McDowell too. I have always loved her landscapes particularly the plaid ones. There's also a local quilter named Sue Rasmussen. I don't believe she's ever had a book published and I don't know if she has a website but I linked to some photos I found of a couple of her quilts. She works in so many styles it's amazing. I remember years ago finding this pattern and thinking I should try it when magothyrivergirl posted a picture of one she had done. It was great and seeing it encouraged me to give it a try. I have to give her full credit for this one; I see lots of patterns I like and only try a fraction of them. If I hadn't seen hers I'm not sure I would have ever gotten to it. Thanks M!!! Kate

Thanks for the ideas. Well I had JC Penney out here on Friday and we really went through the fabrics. I found fabrics that I like, but I don't know if they are going to give me the look I want. I like a very traditional, simple, warm look. We live in the country and I think I want dummy panels that won't block any of the view out the window. And I don't know that I want a busy pattern that will compete with the view. But I don't know what I would want to block out the sun from the east and west. Maybe I'll post some pics on another thread to get some ideas from the folks here.

Hi Margie! Haven't spoken to you in a while! I have a few goodies around here from swaps with you.
Glad you liked the site. I think this angel is a real beauty, and easy enough for a non-sewer like me.
