A strange slurping noise is coming through the air vent in my bathroom. I opened it up and there was nothing in there. The noise only occurs in the middle of the night, usually about 10 p.m.

Critters ?, middle of the night ? 10 pm ?? Hope you have no rats, you will need one huge trap, maybe a bear trap ! Please no poisons, the dead critter will smell so bad that you will have to burn down the house ! Possibily the beast abides in the bathroom vent, use a bright light and check for foot tracks(lay down some baking soda). This is interesting..

The slurping threw me off, but I did have middle of the night bathroom noises in my exhaust vent last year. They were scratching noises. Sounded like a big animal to me (but things are amplified when you're sleepy and it's 1 a.m.) Turned out it was a huge roach, like palmetto-sized. It was an attic-dweller, I guess, and decided to try and come into the bathroom. One night, it got actually into the fan, and I turned the fan on, and beat it to death. Then, like a true female, I woke my husband up to dispose of the remains! Maybe scraping/scratching noises could sound slurpy if you are drowsy enough.

How in the world does a squirrel make slurping noises?
|
Haven't you ever heard a squirrel make those noises? It's not exactly like someone slurping up a bowl of soup, but it's similar.
