| I am thinking about a fire safe for home to store some valuables and such. Most of the safes I see are rated for 1 hour at 1700 degrees. Is that really good enough or should I step up to a 2 hour at 1850 degree. I am looking at Sentry brand. All opinions are welcome.

| I am also looking for a safe so I can't help you there. I do think you will get more answers in a different forum. Maybe the finance one? |

| I would say that, like anything else, you get what you pay for. The lower grade safe would withstand a smaller fire than the more expensive one. Beyond that you'd have to find someone experienced in how they actually survive fires, which may be hard to do. I would go with whatever you can afford, and remember that anything is better than no protection at all. :-] |

| 1. Have you looked at the reviews on Amazon? Sometimes those provide helpful insights. 2. Do what I do: Put irreplaceable items in a safety deposit box at a bank. |
