tiny black beetles around sink area

I can't get rid of them and can't id them. Does anyone know what they are? They are no more than 1/16 inch long. They move very slowly, have a hard shell. Cannot make out features without a magnifying glass. They are attracted to water rather than food it seems. They seem to becoming from behind a counter. I can't find the source. Want to get rid of them.

We have lived in the house 20 years and this is the first I have ever seen these here or anywhere.

Can you help me id them and get rid of them?
