plastic table cloth left on dining room table-help

we inherited the house, began the long process of cleaning stuff out. lifted the cloth tablecloth off the dining room table and discovered a plastic (no felt underlining) tablecloth lying directly on the wood. the entire top is covered in bubbles - looks like blisters. i haven't touched it. no white marks - just raised bubbles. what do i do?

Is it the finish that has bubbles, or if it is a veneer table is it the actual veneer that's bubbled?
