I gained weight with birth control pills. A vasectomy cured that. Friends of mine who have taken anti-depressants have gained a ton of weight and the only thing they could do was to change medication. My understanding is that with the exception of Metformin, drugs to control diabetes cause weight gain. I am not looking forward to that. You may have to be more specific as to the type of drug you are taking to get a good answer

Very thought-provoking podcast awm, thanks! I was wondering about interval training. Has anyone tried Body for Life's 12-week program? It sounds very efficient. Cardio Warm up the first 2 minutes at Intensity Level 5 Minutes 2-3 move from Intensity Level 5 to 6 Minutes 4-5, 6-10 and 11-14 work your way from Intensity Level 6 to Level 9, maintain for one minute. Minutes 15-19 work your way from Intensity Level 6 to Level 10 (High Point at Level 10), maintain for one minute. Minute 20 cool down to Intensity Level 5 for one minute. Alternate weight-training and cardio workouts for six consecutive days and rest on the seventh day. Weight Training * Weight train intensely, three times per week on alternating days with aerobic * Workout exercise three times per week. Make sure to hit your "high points" during your workout. * Alternate training the major muscles of the upper and lower body. * Perform two exercises for each major muscle group of the upper body. * Select one exercise and conduct five sets with it, starting with a set of 12 reps, then increasing the weight and doing 10 reps, adding more weight and doing 8 reps, adding more weight for 6 reps. Then reduce the weight and do 12 reps. Immediately perform another set of 12 reps for that muscle group using the second selected exercise. * For each muscle group, rest for one minute between the first four sets. I lost about 10 pounds in two weeks (it seems like) after our flood (picture me going back and forth about 20 times a day between the flooded apt. and the temporary rental with a large red shopping cart moving china and other misc. delicates while the movers threw everything into boxes). To say nothing of having to walk up 27 flights at least 5 times in the day before they got the elevators working again! But now, 9 months later in a tiny rental with no dining table (we eat in shifts at a bar height kitchen passthru) and many meals in restaurants (gives us a break from said tiny apt.) and weeks and weeks of stressful mold remediation and a fire/flood contractor from HELL - I have gained about 8 pounds back. I'm counting on the move back (in approx. 3 months) to help lose the weight (more trips with the red shopping cart)

I can relate to the weight gain. I too work out everyday and eat a healthy diet. I gained about 15 pounds also. Went on bio-identical hormones and lost the weight and more. Even went down a size in my clothes. Had problems with the hormones after 5 or so months so went off of them and the weight came back. Several months ago I saw a nutritionist and eat basically a vegetarian diet with fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds. I also cut my portions back. I have lost 10 pounds. I am 59 and still going through night sweats and all the mood stuff. I am not sure if you need estrogen. All I know is that when I went off the hormones my weight came back so came to the conclusion that the lack of hormones definitely affected my weight.
