I do the noodle routine too, tibs. My God however, I have had fifty-sixty dozen eggs at a crack to deal with. That's when our local charity kitchen got a good donation and they were thrilled. Do you have any idea how long it would take to make all those noodles? LOL I used to spend days on end making them as many as my clothes rack would hold at a time. I have had as many as thirty one gallons bags of them in the freezer. I have found if the whites are seperated they freeze quite well. I keep small bags of them frozen to make baked meringues and pavlovas.

I'm seriously not trying to offend anyone or recommend anything illegal nor derail a thread, I just know times are hard for quite a few of us and I have now met 3 landscapers who have turned to this as their business declined and have been certified to legally grow. It's not something I do, but I'd rather point out a legal-but-frowned-upon alternative than have someone starve while trying to grow yams in LA. /end weed discussion

I'll add that many 'annuals' will freely reseed; Madagas. spinach (vine), my Hyacinth bean pops up everywhere all on its lonesone, maypops and such. While not high in calories they do return on their own. And yes save those seed of crops that don't return naturally like corn. I'm in the S/E US so we have very different climates but the same problem with nut trees. We grow pecans and various oaks here that produce an edible nut but like ya say they can take decades to come into thier own. This is not so with fruit trees like figs, apples, pears, orential persimmons and all. They may take up to 5 years to really start doing their thing but thats not such a long wait. I sincerly hope we are in the forefront of a revolution and what we start will be of use to the furture generations. Thats the way I have to think on things here as I being a 40 guy will barely see the results of what I'm starting now. Mike

For low-carbing, when it comes to things like "spaghetti" I enjoy using thinly sliced cabbage and cook it slightly. Spaghetti sauce or Alfredo also tastes great over cooked broccoli. Very good Ruthie. I had lost 26, but I have been sluffing off this summer and gained back 7 - 9. I need to get serious again!
