Just wanted to get us started this week. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Hope to see more posting. My visit with the dr went great but I still want to lose the lbs. Come out, come out, wherever you are! :)

Hi Guys!

Monday - new day, new start!

Here's my weekend story: Bought 2 prs of jeans online - no clothing stores for locals here - only tourist shirts and pull-overs & expensive tourist-y designer duds, etc - you get the drift. Anyway, the jeans are barely buttonable. Yikes! So I am wearing them to remind myself to get with the program. Believe me, I WILL BE ON TRACK today while I am wearing these uncomfortable jeans! haha.

Had a very productive weekend! My hired hand and I got busy building 3-tiered shelves across the entire wall in the garage. By the end of next weekend, I hope to have everything off the floor! Picked up wintertime straw for the chicken and pheasant - they love picking apart the bales and it keeps them busy.

Next week, I'm heading to Alaska to visit my fam for a week. Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer and a bone infection, so he's getting treatment at home and just kind of hanging out. I want to see for myself how he and my Mom are doing and do what I can while I'm there.

Baby V's adoption will be finalized on the 22nd of this month. He is doing well with his new family. We visited with him about 3 weeks ago and he appeared to be transitioning well. I am STILL working on his photo books and lifebook -very emotional process but it also brings back some fantastic memories for me.

Hello, everyone and Happy Thanksgiving Day to all Canadians who may be lurking here.

We are having a quiet day - just my son and I. Had enough celebrating because of my bithday on the 29th. Lasted more than a week. Scales show it too. Boy, it is hard to get back on track, but I intend to suceed - hope so anyway.

Last 15 months: Dec 2003- Went ot Alaska for Christmas w/ my family, first time in 15 years. Wonderful. January 2004 - DH decided he needed to separate and went looking for a place of his own. I received emails, cards and support from my SS sisters and DH & I went to counseling and started some work. May 2004 - My yearly visit with my Kentucky family and MADDIE! Loved it and LOVE her. Spring 2004 - Exchanged a series of emails with DeeMarie and we learned a lot about each other. Very fun and lovely conversations. Beautiful person, she is. June 2004 - Surrendered my dog to keep my husband. Painful but necessary. Again, lots of support from here. Summer 2004 - Spent living in Alaska. Drove up and down the state and had a killer time. Loved it but was happy when I got home in the fall, then I got homesick for Alaska - lol. September 2004 - Went to NY and met Raeanne and her DH- visit too short and had TOO much fun! The people are so fantastic that we're thinking of moving to that coast in a few years! Scoping weather and property now. DH started 2nd year of law school - only 1 more to go after this. I started back to college to finish a degree I started many years ago. All children in school. Dec 2004 - Had DH's family here for holidays. So stressful, DH blew a gasket and almost left again. Back to counseling...and deal making. Lots better now that family's gone. January - Signed up for another college load; continuing to work toward that piece of paper I want. Becoming aware that time flies when you don't have any. Signed up at WW Core Program. Determined to lose weight and be healthy. Still here, after many years and still checking in really regularly. Planning a trip to east coast in March to scout a place to live when we finally move. KYSusie~ Good to hear from you. Keep on truckin' toward wellness. Happy Thursday! Got part of my plant order picked up from the post office today. I was panicking thinking they shipped everything - too early for the whole order. I've ordered the oldest type of roses that deer don't like (hopefully same with rabbits). Got 4 Salet Moss Roses (pink) and 2 Apothecary (dark pink) roses. These are the old prickly stemmed roses that smell like heaven. At least today and tomorrow until late afternoon the rain is taking a break. I have to plant these now. When I'm not ready in the garden of course. It's okay because they are foundation plants - pink roses along the east side of our house where we're having our sitting area built up and terracing the sloped side a wee bit. The last pink rose bush and the 2 dark pink I'm thinking of planting down in the vegetable garden area where I've started my herbal garden while in the trailer. I want to build that up into a sitting garden over time. Just taking a break for the moment. Just washed out and reinstalled all the batteries on my outdoor solar lights (new last year for the trailer life). I'm glad I had the sense to bring them in and tidy them up in the fall. Things are not cheap anymore - these are those newer white light ones. For the moment many are in use to mark off the terracing for the east side garden. It's just dirt, small rocks, lots of roots from ripped out old growth lilac gone wild, sumac and weeds starting. I feel so sleepy hearing the billion frogs in the wet areas calling for mates, song birds fighting over nest areas and signing at the top of their lungs. But the sun is sheer delight. I'm taking photos of my progress on the gardens. Eventually I'll get them posted in a blog that I'm hoping to do for my garden adventure around here. I've picked up rhubarb that is growing and current bushes/vines?. Grapes too but not sure where to plant them. They are supposed to be planted now - judging by the speed of light they are growing at in the hall. They'll hate me when I plant them outside - I know. Wow, I can see the golden eagles over the fields outside - guess they're sizing up dinner. The trees still appear barren. A couple more weeks I expect to see buds. I'm glad to read the posts. I guess it's slow because everyone seems to have so much to attend to right now. I'm still working on drinking my water and desperately fighting the urge to nap. I'll take that as a sign to fill my water bucket now and get those roses in the ground. Enjoy your day...I need light and fresh air. Looks like we're all having a busy weekend! I'm happy to report my weight is shifting down - I've recovered from last weekend's visit with my pal and all that food. I've moved from 145 to 143/142ish. Quite happy with that. Slow and steady is my goal. I will stop losing when my body tells me to. I'm focusing on proper portions and healthier food choices. I figure I will settle on a weight when my food balances with my body. Anything around 130-135 is my goal to maintain. Anything lower than 128 I have to be careful because that is a teenager weight and not healthy for me at this age. Too easy to get sick and have little to help me recover from. Besides, I don't do 'thin' - I'm a curvy build and thin looks awful on me. Got there once in the military and everyone told me I looked gaunt. If I were born to be tall fine, but I'm not. My goal is to be able to garden without back spasms and be able to jolt up a couple of flights of stairs without losing my breath. Maintaining a healthy weight is the biggest challenge, not the weight loss. So I plan to be here for some time to come. We're off to the in-laws this weekend. DH's brother is moving back out west after a year of unsuccessfully seeking work in mapping. He's been working 'online' from his original job out west but since nothing has happened in this area he's moving back. He's been living in his parents basement for all this time - not funny. Time to go. I'll miss him but glad we had the time to know him better. Also going to drive a wee bit down a county road tomorrow to practice my driving. Looking forward to that too. I don't do highways because I am not comfortable making turns at higher speeds yet. Take care, I will try to get online this weekend. Cheers, Peggy

Hi! Congrats Suzanne on that terrific total on the yard sale! What was the fund raiser for? Carolyn, I feel your pain re the heat! Hotter than heck here too... I think most of us are catching up on FB, but I find this to be so much more private, a safe place where we can bare our souls. This group is amazing, even if I haven't been checking in so often! Just wanted to say thank you for all of the prayers and good wishes, good thoughts from you guys after my accident. I am completely recovered from that nasty concussion, jaw is all healed and i have been back to work for the past 2 1/2 weeks! You might have seen that I have already been deep sea fishing and this Sunday I am taking my kayak out on Newport Bay. Can't wait! Can't find too many friends or family who enjoy kayaking as much as I do, so I went to meetup.com and found some new friends who DO! Ha! There is group at that link for EVERY interest. So Carolyn, go find 'em! You might suddenly find yourself with TOO much to do! : ) tikanis

Patti- I'll be thinking of you!

DeeMarie! I am trying my hardest to stay on track! Today was the first time I had a non-fat double shot latte with NO flavoring and no chocolate in it - LOL - I have been SO bad, but I am going to, for the thousandth, millionth time, try to eat at least halfway decently. I am certainly not getting any younger!

I am SO looking forward to visiting Alaska next week! I know it's completely selfish, but when I am there, I exercise EVERY day and eat small portions and don't snack. Granted, I do have my one lemon drop early evening cocktail at my favorite waterfront restaurant, but I ALWAYS lose weight. No family to cook for, no stress, etc. It's like a retreat. And seeing my family, the snow-covered mountains, and wildlife does a soul good.

We're missing a buncha people here....check in and say "Hi."

Nobody here but us chickens...

Well, another good day behind me. I'm finally getting to know what it feels like to be a little hungry - I almost never have that feeling, 'cause I'm always eating!!!! lol.

Dropped off DH's car at the garage to get new tires ths morning and WALKED across town to work. Granted, this IS a SMALL town, but I thoroughly enjoyed the walk! Crisp air, blue skies! And I meandered, looking in shop windows, etc. Great way to start the day.

Weight is down a tad and super-tight, sprayed-on jeans I ordered are fitting a little better. I wonder how I let myself get this way (unhealthy & out of shape), but I know. I think I look fine most of the time. LOOK fine is NOT feel FINE!

Does anyone have a mirror in their house that they like better than all the rest? haha...

YAY and a CHEER to all the Chileans that are being rescued. I think it's amazing to see. Can you imagine being a family member? ...VERY emotional....

I just had lunch with my group at the office, and we were fortunate to see #15 pulled up from the mine. Thank God!! I'm praying that everyone is saved with little or no effects.

BJ~I'll be thinking about you too! ;) Now I know where I want to go when I finally take my Alaskan Cruise. I honestly don't care if I ever take a cruise or not except that I want to take an Alaskan cruise. LOL

Hi all!

Beege--I wish I was going with you! I remember the pic of your parents deck that had all of the eagles on it--so incredibly beautiful! Please tell your parents hi for me, and give them a hug!

Patti--I've been in and out of here so much that I must have missed it--are you & Dave buying in TX or FL? How is he? I saw Heather French a few weeks ago, and though of you both-

Well, things are good here--too good-- in fact, I'm waiting or the sky to fall--lol! I just signed up for CPR, and am looking forward to it. I was certified several years ago (h3ll, I'm probably "certifiable" now! lmao!), but it expired, and quiet frankly, I've forgotten most of it. I'm also looking at scrubs, and accessories. Tikanis, any suggestions on good scrubs and support hose? Shoes? (I have a pair of Dansko that I bought after Besh recommended them, but I'd like another pair--something different.)

Gotta go--one more midterm tomorrow, and then some freedom-

Patti, as a matter of fact, I'm heading to Florida on the 23rd! I come back to work just long enough to make some $$ to vacation again.

Actually, the stress here has reach very very high levels. I was away for 3 days, and I heard that 2 people quit without having another job! How bad is that in this economy? This is an extremely successful, Fortune 200 company. I've got a visit with a cardiologist next Friday because I want to make sure this place is not killing me.

OK, where is everyone? If you don't check in with happy news, I promise to come here every day that yak and complain about something else!

Still wearing the tight jeans---lol...

Maddie: Speaking of my parent's deck...I wanted to get a good picture of an eagle feasting, so I took a turkey carcass from dinner and put it on the deck. Then I positioned myself on the floor, camera-ready, to take multiple photos when the eagles came to snack. Well, it was less than a miute when an eagle swooped down, picked up the entire turkey, and flew off. Just like that! My family was rolling on the floor laughing at me. Not.One.Picture. ha!

DeeMarie: Wow! It's stressful at the top, eh? Stay cool.

Patti- People are generally happy with the summertime cruises. I think it's much better to fly up and drive Alaska - so scenic and you can stop anywhere YOU want to!

BJ, love, hugs and prayers for you and your family. Safe trip to Alaska and a good visit with your dad - prayers for him.

Dee, my job is very stressful as well. I work in a hospital in nursing admin and EVERYTHING in the world finds its way to me. ((Hugs)) Take good care of yourself and enjoy Florida. I like your philosophy about working enough for $$ for vacation and head out again.

Maddie, hang in you are doing great. Besh gave you a great direction with Dansko. Visit the website advance for nurses, don't know the exact name but they have scrubs, shoes, etc..... Don't spend a fortune on scrubs. As long as they are comfy and wash well you are good to go.

So happy to see all miners pulled out!! Was watching with bated breath.

Have to catch up but I think of you all and really love all of you.
