WW mtg. question

I had a question I was hoping someone could answer. Can kids (like toddlers) go to the weekly Weight Watcher meetings with the moms/dads, or are the meetings really suppose to be just for adults? I would think the day time meetings would have some kids/babies; then again, what do I know?

Meeting are for adults only. Children old enough to join (I think at age 9 with doctors permission) bring a parent with them.

There have been meetings set up in the past for new moms and infants but they are not the norm. You would have to call your local WW Center and inquire.

Losing weight is very personal and one of the things members learn is to make time for themselves and to nurture themselves as well as others. Your meeting should be a time for you.

WW is very generous with their scheduling. You will find morning, afternoon and evening meetings available almost every day of the week. An hour away from the kids is good for you.

Ours is a small town group so few secrets there....LOL.
We have a few young moms who bring their kids who are remarkably well behaved. I suspect it depends on the makeup of the group.

My name is Patrick Perry I own ‘A Worm’s Tale’ in Jacksonville Florida, Coos Bay Oregon, Cedar City Utah, Vancouver British Columbia and other locations. We are the largest producer of organic worm castings in the world. I live in Salt Lake City, but I evaluate each location every year. I have been using WWGrinder, TroyBilt, Craftsman, MTD and other chipper shredders for over 30 years. I prefer the basic WWGrinder design that has been coppied by others. I currently have over 20 machines that work well. I like extra heavy made flails with the exit screens these machines use for reducing the size of materials. After shredding, we sift using an expensive 1/8” trommel and reshred the larger materials. A worms mouth is 1/40 of an inch, so we regrind all shredded materials after they pass through a 1/8” screen. We also have at least 10 commercial grinders; we prefer burr grinders. We stock parts and know who manufactures parts for all these shredders. We usually buy hundreds of flails, chipper knives and have 10 screens of one size custom made at a time (1.5”, .75”, .25”, 125”); they usually cost $150 each. At each location we have mechanics that overhaul and maintain our shredders. We also have HUGE custom built chipper shredders that output material smaller than 1/8” If you need advice, parts or want to sell a working or broken machine, we buy and sell them after reconditioning. Most of the chipper shredders with exit screens are no longer made in the USA. The Chinese replacements are cheaply made with inferior steel and parts; they do not work very well; parts and exact engines become unavailable very quickly. Most people throw them away when they break. We keep a bone yard of obsolete machines for parts if you want to discard one and help others to repair their machines. Thanks for the info...I think what I will do (and I know I am a LONG way from this point) is go to a nutritional site, get the information on the required calories for my weight and figure my diet out from there. The other point is to pay attention to my PORTIONS and continue to use smaller bowls, plates for meals. Thanks for the info. McPeg

LL, I had a very 'hungry' week last week, and my loss slowed down to a crawl because I had some unhealthy choices around me. Anchor yourself during this stressful time with some 1 and 2 point snacks for when the hungries ATTACK! Sugarfree chocolate pudding (1 point - yum! my fave afternoon snack), dole fruit bowls (get that fruit in with an EZ snack pack), Popcorn for when you are in a salty mood, etc. You can eat, you just need to keep the good snacks at your fingertips! (can you tell last night's talk was about Anchoring!) My anchor since last week is my snack drawer at work. When the day gets nuts, I have these 1 point and 2 point snacks at my fingertips! I got rid of the hershey kisses until my willpower has control again. and at WI last night I was down another 1.6 pounds!! You guys!! This is awesome! I did NOT lose like this on WW two years ago. I used to lose so sloooooow that it was frustrating. I never ever lost a pound in a week. I'm not sure what's the key this time. I just keep telling myself consistency is the key, and to not let my guard down. I treat myself on the weekends (we all need a treat), and I cushion the treats with a big salad first, or something like that. (like last weekend I went to a Pampered Chef party, ate the pillsbury-dough-filled treats, but also munched on veggie tray items to add 'fill' to my tummy so that I didn't overdo the treats. Update on my BUGGY problem Had the bug man here today to spray, so no more 2 a.m. cat-cockroach races thru my bedroom !!! Let's have a moment of silence for the poor cockroaches. ... ... ... Ok that's enough!!!!! ROFL!!!!!

My story, I joined when I worked at my last job. I was able to do lunch visits. I loved my leader, and though I lost slowly, I did ok. It's a very do-able eating plan. Then May of 2004 I quit that job. I was home for 4 months, remodeling house, etc. and didn't really stick to it. Since I was no longer working at that job, it was hard to get to that meeting location. I have meetings near my home but I said to myself, "Self, you'll never like any other leader as much as this leader". (I know, excuses excuses). So I also thought I could do it all on my own. Well without accountability and journaling, and support from friends in the group, I gained. Very very slowly but over the course of the last 27 months, I guess I gained an average of 1 lb a month. (about the same rate as I lost it originally). Amazing how it sneaks up! Anyway I went back to work 2 years ago this week. Tried to find a WW nearby but this job rarely allows me to get away for lunch, so I knew I would never stick to it. So a couple of weeks ago, an old family friend chatted me online, and said she joined in June, and has lost 15 lbs so far. I asked if I could go with her to her evening meeting and she was happy to have a WW buddy!!! So I joined up last Thursday. I am following the flexpoints plan. I have been doing great with the eating, not really hitting a lot of the 35 extra, except for on Labor Day (used a few for 'liquid refreshments') :-) I'll know more tommorrow when I go for my first WI! Oh by the way, another mom at my DD's school joined right about the time I left and has lost all her weight. She looks great. Well when I got to the meeting she was also going to this meeting! So two good friends, who are a lot of fun to be around, are both in my Thursday meeting! Used to - I did Monday's because I felt it kept me accountable over the weekend. But I also think Thur is good - you get a good boost of willpower heading into the weekend. Anyhow! hoping I'll see you in the lifetime circle again soon!!!!

My DD is 8 and I bring her to my meeting but I asked the coordinator there first before I did it. I think it depends on how old the child is and whether they will disrupt the meeting.

There are several children who accompany moms and dads to our meetings. While I would prefer they weren't there (they are distracting), but it doesn't bother me all that much. Our coordinator welcomes them. Check with yours.

We also had several kids of all ages at my mtgs. Our leader did not seem to care, she even had crayons and paper and books for them to doodle in. She even made one little boy her helper he ran around and did things for her:) I think it is best to ask first tho???

My meeting room has toys in one corner for kids. My leader understands that needing child care to attend meetings is one more obstacle to healthy weight loss. If you must bring your child, then do so.

that said, though, be aware that the meeting is for adults, no one else will supervise your kid but you, kids can be very disruptive on occasion, and if that is the case, should be taken out of the meeting room. So if you do have an easy solution for child care, I recommend it.

But, That said, please, don't let lack of child care keep you away!
