Last 15 months: Dec 2003- Went ot Alaska for Christmas w/ my family, first time in 15 years. Wonderful. January 2004 - DH decided he needed to separate and went looking for a place of his own. I received emails, cards and support from my SS sisters and DH & I went to counseling and started some work. May 2004 - My yearly visit with my Kentucky family and MADDIE! Loved it and LOVE her. Spring 2004 - Exchanged a series of emails with DeeMarie and we learned a lot about each other. Very fun and lovely conversations. Beautiful person, she is. June 2004 - Surrendered my dog to keep my husband. Painful but necessary. Again, lots of support from here. Summer 2004 - Spent living in Alaska. Drove up and down the state and had a killer time. Loved it but was happy when I got home in the fall, then I got homesick for Alaska - lol. September 2004 - Went to NY and met Raeanne and her DH- visit too short and had TOO much fun! The people are so fantastic that we're thinking of moving to that coast in a few years! Scoping weather and property now. DH started 2nd year of law school - only 1 more to go after this. I started back to college to finish a degree I started many years ago. All children in school. Dec 2004 - Had DH's family here for holidays. So stressful, DH blew a gasket and almost left again. Back to counseling...and deal making. Lots better now that family's gone. January - Signed up for another college load; continuing to work toward that piece of paper I want. Becoming aware that time flies when you don't have any. Signed up at WW Core Program. Determined to lose weight and be healthy. Still here, after many years and still checking in really regularly. Planning a trip to east coast in March to scout a place to live when we finally move. KYSusie~ Good to hear from you. Keep on truckin' toward wellness. Where do I start? Yes I am very busy. The weekend was a HUGE success. We have to have one girls! I cannot wait to have one with all of us. I have just been friends with these ladies since Aug. & have met 4 of them. I have only met 2 of you IRL. Yes, I've talked to many more over the phone & seen many pics but then I've seen many pics of my other friends too. Especially since it is scrapbooking. LOL We did some shopping, went out to eat, let the kiddos swim at the waterpark, took lots of pics, did a little sleeping, and generally enjoyed each other's company. Dave came & spent a little time on Sunday too. He already knew 2 of the women so he met the 3rd one. This is a busy month of birthdays for us. So I've been busy doing birthday cards, pages about our adventures, sympathy cards, Mother's Day cards, and such. We've had trips to the commissary, VA, & tomorrow the Renaissance Fair on top of visiting the friend who had his cancer surgery & is in the hospital. We had the resident's association meeting, quilting show, shopping with the girls, & I'm organizing still. So that's been my week. Milkdud~[[[[Larry]]]] Hope you get good news. Glad you are staying so busy & that you are enjoying TOPS so much. My Mom's sis did that with great success for a while. NH Suzanne~Love hearing about the BB. We have had so many birds here this winter. I thought perhaps it was b/c we are so much colder than normal. Many, many more nests it has seemed to us. This would be the ______ in particular that I'm speaking of. If I don't think of it, I'll have to ask Dave what I'm trying to think of. He is off doing clothes right now. BJ~I hope you enjoy your time off the island & that you have better luck with the house this time. Can't wait to hear about Baby V. Little Sweetie Pie deserves to have a good home. Raeanne~The art show sounds divine. I can't wait to see the pics. I know Dave will be interested too especially since it is the Adironack chairs. Wodka~I'm thrilled you are going to Chicago. I've only been in the airport. It was cold. LOL I had to do a 4 hour layover from Orlando to Dallas. IDK, doesn't make sense to me? I know it is a little late but I always take out the honey, lemon, & tea when my throat is hurting. That seems to take care of it right away. Besh~Glad Zoe is doing well. Shopping, yes!! Fun, fun, fun. Well, I hope you have a great weekend. My friend is supposed to take pics of her friend having a baby & she is being checked by the dr so we may have to wait until Sunday to go to the Ren Fest but whenever we go, it will be a great time. QOD: Youngest DD went to a friend's house to spend the night. 2nd youngest DD had a summer slumber party here-I don't know why they call it that; no one sleeps and she has a party to go to today! 15 y.o DD was out last night with 18 y.o. BF - he now has his own apartment whcih she likes to visit. She starts pilot ground school today 8-6 for the next few Saturdays and Sundays. Oldest DD got a job running projectors at the local movie house, so she was working the last couple nights till 3 a.m. w/ the "Pirates" openings? I haven't yet. Me, I'm walking dogs, watering lawns, studying philosophy, ethics, and moral obligations, topped off with a load of meteorology and LOTS of laundry and weeding! I am going to spend an hour in my office as well--cleaning! DH is taking the bar study course 24/7, so things are running smoothly around here, really. GOOD LUCK, ERICA!!! Pictures, please! You are our "SS Daily Queen" mascot EVERY DAY! Zig~ Hope the funeral was okay for you. Those things are tough, but bring people together---and that's a good thing. Dee- Good to hear you're continuing the walking, but sorry about the pain of all. Syill thinking of your co-worker and her DH... Donna~ Did you get to go out to dinner? Raeanne: The questions on the body shape quiz didn't give many options for answers. I was an hourglass too, but have never thought of myself this way---I really think I have a boy's shape, sort of squarish w/ large shoulders. I was wondering how much stock to put in that quiz. Work-outs with enough weight to cause a fair amount of resistance is a great way to prevent bone disease and just plain be healthier---so I'm foregoing the femmy looks for that. Besides, as I get older, I sort of want to look like I can kick some @ss---lol!!! As well, I have really enjoyed increasing the weight at the gym from time to time--POWER! John-cats yet? Besh-CONGRATS on the 2.6 at WW Friday!!!!!!!!! I read about you unpacking your canvas bags and had to laugh---I have the same deal after an outting! Sounds like your weekend is FULLLLLLLLL! Be good! Milkdud~ What kind of swimming do you do? I've been hitting the pool for low key water walking twice a week. It's just a nice way for me to mellow out really. Maddie! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes! I am having a great birthday week! Tomorrow I FINALLY get to pick up the new kayak! I'll take it for a paddle out on the bay for a couple of hours.I can hardly wait! Then in the afternoon, I am attending a friend's dtrs going away party. Tomorrow night is our family birthday party at my sis' house. I took my first full day off in almost 4 weeks today.... Whew! Sunday it's church and then veg out ALL DAY LONG!!! George, sweetie, yes I am Greek! But alas, you are not really my type, sad to say. Have you got a brother who is maybe the rugged cowboy type? Good afternoon!

Wow, what a nice surprise - birthday card, and greetings, and singing, and wine and cheese! Thanks so much for the nice thoughts! I turned 60 today - this seems like a big one! I'm happy to be here, though, wrinkles and all!

Not much planned, except my husband is taking me out to dinner tonight, which is nice. I'm headed out of town tomorrow to spend a few days with my mom and sisters, so that will be fun, too.

Enough about me. Maddie, way to go on your grades! Smartie! You should be so proud of yourself!

Can I join your diet club? I know that sounds a little shy, but I am a stranger here. I am normally in Home Decorating and have been for a couple years, my passion.

Now my other passion seems to be food, I can't get enough of it. If I watch the food network I almost want to lick the screen. (lol)

If I could lose twenty pounds I would be happy, but it might as well be a thousand. And I hate to excerize, see I can't even spell it. (lol again)

At any rate, would you tell me about your club and how it works.

Jane - by all means join us - the more the merrier and we can always use some a newbie to get us all motivated. We are here for you to share the good, the bad and the ugly.

Good morning!

My brother will be here in 4 hours to pick me up and I haven't even packed yet.

Jane, welcome! When I get back next week, I need to refocus on losing some last stubborn pounds, so maybe we can help each other. Since my WW meetings stopped, I have tried, but not hard, to at least maintain my loss of 60 pounds, but I've wavered a bit, not big time, but about 4 pounds gained. So, I need to refocus, even in this hellish heat, and increase my walking and food journal entries. Ivamae is a great example of discipline and being accountable, so look for her posts and others.

Last night I was already in bed, and my neighbors called and said they had a surprise - a plateful of still warm, walnut/chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies. They came over and sang happy birthday to me, even their 15 year old son. It made my day. I love having good neighbors. (And no, I didn't enter the cookies in my journal - I was exempt yesterday - ha.)

Better get busy. I do feel better when I visit here, so hope to "see" y'all next week. Have a great week and weekend. Stay cool. We had another heat fatality here yesterday.

Belated Happy Birthday, Woodka.

I hope you have a nice few days holidays.

Jane, I haven't been here too long either but it is a great place and lots of encouragement. I'm also trying to get weight off although I have prety much met my goal. Now I'm trying to take another 5 pounds off for some wiggle room. So far lost 1 pound for that and then gained it back and it is stuck like glue. To-day is my weigh in day and it stayed the same as last week. At least it didn't go up beyond that.I had gained 1 pound last week.

I made a ledge to myself awhile ago to make some chemo caps and took a few in yesterday. I wanted some advice on yarn, size, etc and was pleased with suggestions that I got. Sure don't ned them now wih these temps but will in a few short months. If I succeed, I will try to post a picture. Photo bucket and I don't always get along all that well.

Hello all!

First of all, Happy Birthday Jan! You are as young as you feel, and I am sure you feel great after your major weight loss! Sorry I am a day late, but let the party continue!! Your neighbors sound wonderful, and yes it is good to have nice neighbors....I have some that are very nice and then I have one house that I look at everyday, that they absolutely s*ck!! So consider yourself blessed!

A belated thank you to all of you for my birthday wishes. I don't think I have been on here since, so thank you. As always, it is nice to be loved!!!!

DH and I have been on vacation for the past 2 weeks. He had 2 weeks, I had 1 week, but Wed to Wed. We went to VA to visit DS and DIL. It was wonderful as always, but HOT! 107 degrees during the day and 98 at night. Yikes! I don't know how you Southern Belles do it! I got stung by a jelly fish, kind of freaked me out a bit, but it was fine, just itchy. My younger DS reminded me later that someone should have peed on me, but nobody offered! LOL

Maddie, congratulations on your tests! You go! I am so proud of you! It is nice that George is keeping tabs on you.

Jane welcome! There is no real way this thread works. We all just come here to share stories, weight loss and gains and just lend each other support in our daily lives. Some of us have been here for over 10 years! (Can you believe that ladies?) Some of us have met in person. I for one have strayed away from here (like recently), but always come back and I always know I have friends here. So welcome....please feel free to post whatever you are thinking and would like to share. And, I am a decorator too. I love it, even though it makes everyone else in my house crazy at times!

Speaking of gains, I went back to WW last night. Gained 4# on vacation. Whatever, today is a new day!

Ivamae, love the hats - especially the turquoise with the flower on it? I lost my sister to cancer, hers was fast, so she never even had a chance for the hats, but yours will provide so much comfort to people like her, going through a difficult time.

Happy WEDNESDAY!

Looks like we had a nice turnout for the party. I really enjoyed the wine.

Wanted to work from home yesterday and today but I was drawn into some drama and too many meetings, so I'm in the office. Tomorrow I'll work from home, and by early Friday morning I will be off to NC with my sister and my youngest niece for a girls only vacation. Looking forward to it.

Good morning and Happy Thursday!

Also "Happy Birthday, dear Jan"!!! Sorry I missed the festivities but I was out of town, and yesterday was full of unloading my car again.

Jane, welcome! This is the best place to post about weight issues and anything else. I've been coming here off and on for almost 11 years.

I finally moved the last of my personal items from the house, and it's either in the storage locker in Crosby or up here, but still in my car or out in the garage. I hate that I'm such a pack-rat and a sentimental fool!

Maddie, I just couldn't be prouder of you if I was your own mom! Way to go, girl!

Dee, hope the workout wasn't too bad after the month off.

Donna, good to see you posting!

Suzanne, Raeanne, & Marci, always nice seeing y'all here!

It's been in the 100's here lately, and it will continue that way through the next week. I get everything outside done early then stay inside and enjoy the a/c!

Finally have a cast iron skillet after all these years of pining for one so that I could make fritattas using the recipe that Patti's Dave posted way back when. That's on the calendar for this weekend. Can't wait!

I am off this afternoon for a long weekend in Nantucket on the big boat! Our annual never, never land trip. I love it and the weather is supposed to be really nice and cooler than it has been.

Donna - How are those puppies doing?

Hi Raeanne and Besh and anyone I missed.

We are having a garage sale this weekend and DH is out getting us some extra tables. I really didn't want to participate this year, but DH convinced me we had enough stuff to make it worth our time. I have things gathered, but need to start pricing and organizing. The weather looks good, so hopefully we will get the crowds.

Does anyone have Tikanas' email just in case she doesn't see this?

Hey BJ - if you are lurking, this is a warning. My daughter, Danielle is on your rock and she is armed with your phone numbers LOL. She has a reunion party tonight, the rehearsal dinner tomorrow and wedding Saturday, so she may be too busy to get into too much trouble LOL. Just be on the look out for mini-me.

Marci - sounds like you are still surviving DH's retirement LOL. It is always good when you post - makes me feel like the good old days.

Suzanne - I know I have said this before, but will your FIL adopt me? Enjoy your trip to Nantucket - you have been to 2 of my favorite places - Bar Harbor and Nantucket.

Dee - it seems like I am always wishing you a bon voyage! I know you work really hard when you work, but you play really hard too LOL.

I had some family staying with us a few days and things are crazy at work, that is all that is new in my world.

Suzanne, I have never been to Nantucket. Can you believe that, an old boating New Englander like me? I have been to the Vineyard a million times, but not the other. Have a wonderful weekend. It sounds like the weather is going to be perfect.

Donna, how are those babies? My niece just got a baby Yorkie. So tiny, and so so cute!

Got to go cook something. I have pork chops out, but not sure what I am going to do with them yet! I am also sitting next to a wet dog that I need to do something about! It has been pouring buckets here and the poor thing had to go out in it.
