Hello Everyone and thanks to Tikanis for getting us started.

QOD: My agenda centers around the wedding reception for DSD on Saturday. DH and will make ourselves available for any last-minute items the happy couple need. I'll be working, of course, but I have a meeting on Tuesday evening and a hair appointment on Wednesday evening.

Maddie, George and I were sitting around on my deck last night having some wine when he asked how you were doing? I told him you were probably disappointed that you did not have a chance to catch up with him. He's off for parts unknown now. It's such a shame you missed him. LOL!!!!!

I've got to try to get my act together here today. My assistant took the day off.

Before I forget to mention it this week.....

Raeanne, you SHOULD think of me when you watch the Real Housewives of New Jersey. They all live within a few miles of us. We run into them all over town. Danielle shops not far from my house....and now they go to my favorite place for veal "Positano's". LOL!!!

Happy Tuesday! Belated happy, joyous birthday wishes to Patti! It's sure strange here - all of us facing tough battles. I'm sending positive energy to everyone in need, including your friends and family who are toughing it through some tremendous hardships. May God bless them all, and you too. It's been crazy busy for me. Lots of planting up my plants into bigger pots, still starting seeds on my wire greenhouse stand that I have inside my craft room against a patio door. Been potting up tomato plants that are now blooming and have started forming tomatoes. They are indoor plants - I'm stealing big window space in the hall to grow them on. I'm starting new tomato seedlings over the next month for the outdoor garden - 3rd week in May for me - zone 5a Ontario. Sunday had one hell of a scare. Had to call 911 for DH. I can't recall if I spoke of this or not last Sunday - he had severe dizziness, nausea, vision blacking out and had to lie down. They ruled everything out at the hospital and concluded it must have been a severe bout of vertigo. The only thing they could not explain was the fact that for the first 1 1/2 hours his blood pressure was all over the map into dangerously high levels. A few hours later it calmed right back down to his normal range of 117/65. His family doctor has experienced him having bouts of very weird blood pressure to the point of having dangerous levels and then back down to his normal low. No one can explain that. They did find from the cat scan the beginning of plaque in his neck arteries. Family doc has had his legs scanned at the heart clinic - again the nurse was baffled because of his low blood pressure and he did not seem to be a high risk - but we are waiting for that assessment from last week to get to his doc. Abnormal seems to be our normal - not fitting the textbook standards is the same for both of us. So I have to admit to a few days of horrid eating - carbs, cookies and just plain ol' hungry. Not looking back I started damage control yesterday and have dropped 2 of the 4 pounds I put on. It will come off as it was just my tummy showing those few pounds - plus that stuff I ate probably had salt in it (don't normally use much salt). Spring is here - it's a cool one as forecasted. Fine for me because I have lots of garden beds to put in. I prefer the cool weather when flipped, busting up and raking new beds. I don't over heat that way. I'm still here, just really busy right now. Hang in there everyone. My heart is with you. Don't forget your needs while supporting family and friends. If you can think ahead and prepare some grab'n'go foods/snacks and water you won't be stuck at vending machines or canteen stops. LOL to everyone, Peggy

Hi Guys! Well, I finally have time to post a little! Raeanne- Glad to be back in the swing of things. I have been using my SAD light a little when I'm at work at night...helps the mood...a lot. NYSuzanne: My DD (11 yrs old) started raising quail, chicken, and pheasant for a science fair. Well, as soon as the fair was over, the racoons invaded and had a bird hunt. Soooooooo sad for everyone and every bird involved. The racoons, foxes, and deer on this island are a HUGE problem for humans- but that's nature for ya! They have no predators, so there are millions of them. I finally gave up planting anything that I could eat since the deer ate it ALL before me! I bought a 40 pound bag of clover seed and grew a front yard of clover for the deer - now I have people pulling over in front of my house to take pictures of the deer in my yard munching clover! If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em! Maddie - My dad gave me Kentucky Monthly magazine so I can read all about what's happening in your neck of the woods...and think of YOU, sister. Muh-wah! Ivamae - CONGRATS on your weight loss - what an inspiration you are! Tikanas - SAVE SOME TIME FOR YOURSELF, girlfriend!!! And when are we gonna meet up? Next time you're in Portland, Seattle, or whatever, let me know. I'll drive to you!!! :-) DeeMarie: I just got a cruise brochure and instantly thought of you! It's been so long since I've cruised... Good morning everyone! Patti - I'm not as bad as you are with my sleep. Last night I cheated and took an allergy medication because it usually makes me so drowsy for the first couple of hours. It was enough to get me to sleep. I'm relearning to sleep, somewhat. I have had to take naps now which have been helping. Normally I never nap because of irregular sleeping. We do what we can. What does your doctor say for your insomnia? CONGRATULATIONS on your loss! You go girl! Milkdud - Isn't it wonderful looking at the world 'anew' again with Aubrie? She sounds wonderful. Do what you can with your eating but don't sweat it, just carry on after she goes home. Enjoy your time together. Wish I were a fly on your wall! LOL Wodka the fact you are holding your own on the scale is fantastic with the company. I'm with ya because I experience the same each time we visit the in-laws every month. Drinks, nibble bowls of nuts and chips - very hard. Sometimes I have to 'plan' those visits by bulking up on more veggie/fruits, less carbs a day before and after the visit to allow myself a few extras while there. The key to that was 'planning'. It's much harder when you have a visiting situation that goes on for a couple of weeks. So pat yourself on the back for holding your own! You are doing great! I'll be thinking about you when I working downtown today - I know you will be happy to get outside again! Nhsuzanne - how is your flush going? Mine helped a lot to refocus and remind myself how little fruit and veg I've been eating! I get lazy. Marci glad to see you post! I hope you'll post a pic when the kitchen is done. Happy 4th of July to my neighbours! Have a safe holiday. I'll be thinking about everyone today when I'm downtown. We are a wonderful group of friends to share our journey. Where the heck did this week go to? Wed already and I'm just saying hello now? Must be all the birds out singing taking off with my clock or something. Time sure flies! Great to see you Wodka, Maddie, Dee and Carolyntx. I too am happy you're okay. Wodka I like the watch getting sized down. Now Bobby is with you 'all the time'. He is anyway. The comfort of wearing the watch must be incredible. Toxic people are out there. They have to be really miserable inside to project such venom. My sister remains this way - I have no idea if she will ever mellow and just let life happen as it does. But she needs to control and life is not controllable. Life happens. Therapy and doctors have told me more than once to let go of toxic people - I tried so hard for years because I wanted the idyllic sister relationship that you read about in books. Oil and water don't mix. I gave up. I found a new sister in my closest friend, I've found more family here (thank you for having me in this circle of love) and I continue to find more love and support just by letting life happen. We are still experiencing toxic people with our contractor lien going to court now, pushing our own home build disaster lawsuit ahead. I wish we did not have to do what we are going through but our life's savings are gone. We have no choice in the lien but to defend ourselves. Somehow through all this mess I am sleeping much better. I cannot change my sister - I have let her go but I secretly still wish she can heal herself inside and let life touch her. I am more at peace these days than I have been in years. Enough is enough. I don't want to drink to feel nothing anymore. I've been working on this journey of recovery and new lifestyle habits and I'm feeling and seeing results. Had a very good talk to Dave (DH) this morning about sleeping better and not have broken records constantly playing in my head stressing me out. I garden, I communicate with people who are loving, friends - family to me. I listen with both ears to my surroundings. I hear lovelier sounds to day because I'm letting myself hear them. The biggest stretch which is now becoming easier is I'm actually looking at myself in the mirror and seeing a happier Peggy. What happens will happen. Can I change things? If I can I will for the better. If I can't I have to let it all go on it's journey without me. My Mom spent her time with me during her life telling me to stop worrying about things I cannot change and have no control over. Now at 48 I'm finally getting it. To hell with toxic people. They live literally in that plane - I don't care to join them anymore. I've been MIA - yesterday was a pre-trial for the lien action. Clients had to be in the hallway while the lawyers and judge confirmed evidence and asked both lawyers if either party wanted to offer settlement. We're heading to court to defend ourselves. I'm getting used to macaroni these days....with the garden starting to produce some things my diet is expanding. Well that was yesterday, Monday I was in the garden doing some serious weeding and still planting transplants from the winter as I clear more space outside. Today I was going to work outside but the heavens opened within minutes so I changed gears and I'm working on setting up my craft supplies, been killing moving boxes of Peggy's fabric, crafts and the like. Mentally loving the whole room with stuff all over the place. It's all getting sorted into the dresser I have (emptied that of crap from moving). Putting containers inside the drawers to hold stuff, my paints, brushes, lace trimmings, beads, scissors and all that stuff. It feels like Christmas to me in there. Yeah to anyone else it looks like a craft truck just dumped stuff into the room. But the charity box is filling up with items I will never use/haven't used. Stuff that can be used by someone else. Mentally it feels great to finger through all those things and see them get organized again. So excuse me while I organize some fun stuff. I'm with all of you in spirit. On my diet side, still not eating breakfast but mentally making note of it now and every odd day manage to gag something down with my coffee (need to eat breakfast). Continuing to dance within my 5 pound range of my goal weight. Now focusing on my self esteem. Feeling better inside myself I find I can look at myself in the mirror with less criticism. That's another major goal I'm working on. C'mon - let's keep putting one foot in front of the other. Pull each other along. I may not have a zumba class but I did have Donna Summer's greatest hits on this morning and boogied through my craft obstacle course. That counts for something, right? I love ya all! OK, I can't DeeMarie do this alone, so I thought I would come out of hiding. Really, I don't know where I have been, but I did have a nice chat not too long ago with George Clooney. Maddie, he says "Hello".

Honestly, there is not alot of new things going on. Just busy. My Mom had a heart attack last week, but is doing fine. Docs are just trying to get her Cumidin levels right, but she feels great and looks great after a minor procedure to clean out her arteries. It was quite scary and quite a wake up call for me to lose some weight and MOVE around a little bit. I lead such a sedintary life, this really scared me.

I was following The Belly Fat Cure and had much success, 16# lost. Then I got very sick with some kind of respiratory thing and was living on cough drops and OJ. Way to much sugar and kind of fell of the wagon. I finally had the guts to weigh myself this morning and I am up 8#. So still 8# lost and I have started all over again today. At least I am still ahead of the game.

I think of you all daily and do try to read the threads once in a while, and I promise to make checking in here part on my new health routine. It does help and I really LOVE you ladies!!!

Hey Besh, thanks for coming and keeping Dee from talking to herself. So sorry to hear about your mom, but glad that she is doing so well.

Dee - my friend from Montville, runs into one of them all the time. I have a feeling I am going to see her on there one of these days LOL. You are the best step-mommy - how exciting about the reception.

Tikanis - hope the pile of paperwork has magically disappeared.

It was gorgeous weather all weekend for my company and we had a blast and spent a ton of time on the lake - still too cold for me to get in it LOL.

OK, Dee and Besh--I'm the one that's trying to conjure him up and you all get him?! :) Waaaaaaaaa! That's not fair! I may hafta do some hoodoo before this is all over!

I can't stay long; I have a screaming anatomy test bright and early tomorrow morning--wish me luck--I've studyed so much I'm confused. (IS the head bone connected to the knee bone, or is the knee bone connected to the spleen? enquiring minds want to know!!! LOL!)

It has veen a beautiful day here to-day. Just came in from planting a few more flowers and watering the rest.

Besh, I am on coumadin, too, and it is very difficult to keep it level. Several months ago, I started counting the microgams of Vitamin K in very thing I eat and tabulating it. I'm try9ing to keep it at one specific leval. helped a lot, but what a pain to do it. I also have been counting calories to get the weight off that I gained when on a high dosage of prednisone. I'm still on a maintenance dosage but I have lost more that I had gained. I'm so pleased but would like to lose another 6 pounds if possible. I have atrial fibrilation so that is why I am on the blood thinner and also a beta blocker. I do want to do my best to keep it under control so that heart attack or stroke does not happen.

:) Sorry I've been gone so long without an explanation. I thought I'd posted about going for an extended much-needed vacation to see my family in Dallas, but I must not have. Anyway, I was gone almost 3 weeks, and it was good for me. Got to spend quality time with old friends and family, and ate really well and relaxed even better!

Lots of unpacking and putting away today, so I haven't read and caught up with y'all. Tonight is dinner out with dh to belatedly celebrate Father's Day. We're going to our favorite seafood restaurant, and I'll eat blackened tilapia and their salad and veggies!!!

Hi all!

Tikanis, tisk, tisk. I think you have been seriously misinformed. Anyone knows that the sternum is connected to the calcaneus. Honestly. And, that in some cases, the cranial bones can actually be shoved up the r*ctum? This would explain a lot of the people that I've dealt with lately.

Well, the test was a fright. U G L Y, I ain't got no alibi, it was ugly. But... I was the only one that got 100%. (And then got the extra credit question.) I don't know if this will happen again, so I am going to enjoy this moment in the sun while I can. (I did get a perfect score on one of the tests from last semester, so maybe lightening really does strike twice!)

The weather is very hot here. It's supposed to be 98 today, and the humidity slaps you in the face as soon as you walk out the door. In a way though, for me that's good. At least I'm not tempted to go out and play in the garden, I pretty much stay in and study.

I'm going to ask a favor of everyone. This coming Sunday will be the first anniversary of FILs passing; please send good thoughts to Rog. I know he is hurting, and misses his dad so much. (He was there with his dad throughout his passing, and he tried to save him; I think he is just hurt clear through to his very bones.) I can still hear his voice and his laugh and I miss him too. He was a good man.

Your weather sounds oppressive. I hope they fixed the air conditioning in your classrooms!

Sending prayers and good thoughts to your DH. I know this is a difficult time for you both.

Well, if I make it to September, it will be a miracle. My DS is on my LAST NERVE. 10 weeks till D day (dorm day) and I cannot WAIT. Bring on that empty nest, ladies. I am so ready! LoL!

It's very hot here too. I decided to work from home today and started at 5:45am; got a hair dresser appointment at 3:30 this afternoon so I have a good hair day on Saturday.

Maddie, congratulations! You earned it! So sorry that Rog is so sad. It is such a hard thing to deal with. I don't think you ever get over losing a loved one, maybe you just start to get used to them not being there. I will send positive thoughts and wishes his way.

Ivanmae, my mom also has atrial dif. That is why she is on the coumadin, also. She goes to the doc today, so we will see what is up. Keep up the good work on your weight loss!

Tikanis, I have a 19 year old....say no more! Stay strong!

Raeanne, we were on the boat all last weekend too. The temp. was perfect, but the wind was crazy.

Anyone following WW? I am thinking of going back (again), but applying some of Jorge Cruise's principal to it. He does not suggest that you count calories, just cut sugar and carbs, but I am not responsible enough to not over eat!

Got to fly. Today is my day off and I am supposed to be cleaning and getting ready for Saturday. We are having a large family party....about 35 people....and that is just my immediate family.

Hi.

Raeanne, thanks for checking on me. We just got back from vacationing with friends in Chicago. I have spent the last couple of weeks preparing for the trip, then being on the trip, then having company until Sunday. Won't bore you with any details, but absolutely loved Chicago. When we arrived we were just in time for the Blackhawks (hockey) parade/celebration. Then caught a game at Wrigley Field (Cubs/White Sox.) Us "girls" caught the matinee of "Billy Elliott" at The Oriental Theater - which was pretty awesome. Ate at wonderful restaurants, drank too much wine, etc. - so am not weighing in until next week - ha! We walked every morning we were there - such beautiful flowers and parks! Of course, shopped until literally dropping.

It was so nice to get away from the real world. We did not watch tv or the news at all while we were away. I'm trying to keep depression at bay, because living here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which has not recovered from Katrina yet, and to have this oil spill happening. I read today where a boat captain in nearby Gulf Shores, Alabama, had committed suicide. Since his business had suffered, he had been hired by BP to use his boat in the cleanup efforts. I don't believe in suicide, but to go from something you love to doing something so depressing has to take its toll. I pray that an answer is found soon - I can't believe it's taking so long to fix.

Perhaps maybe I should have waited longer before posting again. I will catch up on everyone's posts soon, but have to congratulate Maddie on scoring such excellent grades!

I'm off to the grocery store for some much-needed groceries. Besh, I no longer "officially" do weight watchers, since our location closed down, but am trying to adhere to its basic plan. I did splurge and eat way too much red meat in Chicago and my stomach is still calming down from that!

Hope today is a good one for everyone.

It's time to check in for the weekend.

I have about 30 hours to wait for DSD's wedding reception. This morning before I went to the office, I tried on the high-heeled shoes I bought to wear tomorrow night....not good. Too high and too tight, but I decided that I'll either soak my feet in iced water before I leave, or bring along a cute pair of flats that will look fine with the dress. No panic just yet.

Jan, welcome home! I missed you. I am glad that you had such a great time. It sounds wonderful!

The situation in the Gulf IS HORRIBLE! There is no getting around it. And here you are living it, day after day. It has to be very difficult, especially after Katrina!I can hardly even imagine. I feel very helpless here, but I think that you should vent when ever you need to. That's what friends are for.

A single mom at my church with a 4th grader just underwent surgery for cervical cancer. We are taking turns doing the child care, driving to after school activities, cooking, wound dressing changes etc. Please send prayers and good thoughts for her speedy recovery and a clean pathology report.

DS' big end-of-school bash is here tomorrow night. Lot's of people expected. I am doing the prep and DS is finishing up on the bbq. Should be fun. I want him to have a nice time before I wring his little neck... ( Just JOKING!!) Grades are in and he earned all As. I am VERY proud.

Today, I have 3 patient visits, some office work and of course, LOTS of party related errands. Sunday I plan on heading down to the Bay and paddling a bit, if the party doesn't wipe me out, else it's a kick- back day relaxing after church, ball game and the Sunday paper...

Oh, Dee! My sister and I just booked a four day cruise to Ensenada for next April with some friends! I have never cruised before, and as you are the "Cruise Queen", I will be sending questions your way.... ; )

I am seriously MIA and need to catch up!

I admit...I have been addicted to Facebook. I have made touch with more friends and family than you can believe or I can believe!! I resisted Facebook cause it's so public but it appears I can control who sees what.

Our family suffered a major tragedy-my cousin's 25 yo daughter was murdered in Ohio. The funeral, a closed casket, was worse than I expected. The guy who the police believe killed her has anger management issues and is in jail $1M bail. It's been a a very rough ride.

I will read and catch up. I miss you all and offer love and hugs to all who need them.

Be good and be safe, I will return (me and McArthur or am I seriously dating myself???).
