Good Monday Sunshine's,

How was your weekend? Saturday it rained all day so I did housework. I spent all day yesterday mowing the fields and it was cold, cold and really windy! Ugh.

Hi Suzanne - it was cold, wet and windy here too, but not a total washout, the sun peaked out whenever it could.

Crazy getting last minute things together for the Girlfriends weekend - wish all my girls here were joining me. It really has consumed all my "free" time. I keep thinking that I am forgetting something big LOL.

I am off to art class in a few minutes and then running some "day off" errands.

Raeanne, I really, really, really wish that I could come to your weekend. It sounds like so much fun. Are you going to be able to participate at all?

It is still cold and windy but today the wind is lighter and it's nice and sunny.

Happy Saturday!!! Yes I'm seed planting now - but in different ways. I cannot plant until after the last frost day - normally in Ontario Canada it's the 3rd weekend in May. Right now I am starting some stuff to grow indoors - even a few tomato plants. I have ample south facing windows. Some of my veggies are to share with friends too. Things like some of my slow growing flowers - lavender - I like to start a huge tray indoors. Since the onion seeds are from big onions, I'd be lucking in spring to have small bulbs from the seeds. The herbs will eventually go outside. My next venture is using water jugs I saved from the summer to do 'Winter Sowing' - had lots of success with that over the years everywhere I lived. Trudi who started it all now has her own website and has moved on but left terrific FAQs at GW. My other focus for this week is challenging others to tackle a box a day to declutter (it's on the KT). Makes this unpacking a little more fun. Misery loves company! LOL. Last night we had friends over for dinner and cards. We had a riot. I had waaaaay too much fun. Let myself go too much but mentally it was all worth it. Haven't laughed like that in some time. Besides laughter burns energy. I'm carrying on today. Did not get my cook ahead done because DH and I spent the afternoon giving this place a good cleaning over (felt fantastic afterwards). My new friend Catherine last night mentioned a nearby town (she lives just outside) is starting a quilt club. She's interested and so am I. We're going to check that out. While we go quilting our boys will enjoy male bonding. I'm getting more social activity in the country than I had living in the city. You can take a bus in the city to a shopping venue or park but that's not socializing. This is better than prozac! Besides I have a ton of quilting magazines I might find good homes for. So lets really get out there an enjoy this weekend. My continued love and support to all of use - my arms are open for sharing hugs. Hi everyone! We've had a horrific storm system blow through yesterday. Got cedar boards outside for the garden - watched those fly by literally like matchsticks in the breeze. A few are now in trees. Listened to our new home roof creak in the wind - very unnerving. It was about 100km/hr all over parts of Ontario yesterday. The strongest wind I've felt since leaving Scotland (winter was gale force winds normally Jan-Feb). Been really focused with my usual - plants. Seedlings, seeds and plants. Did I mention my plants? Somehow managed to cook meals, clean the house and do laundry in between. Like most areas this spring - too frigging cold to do the normal plantings of cool weather crops. Haven't been doing too bad in the food department. Trying to remind myself everyday to drink water more, coffee/tea less. Actually picked up some generic orange juice (can't afford $5.00 per carton and up. Barely afford coffee but we've given up so much with soaring food prices there is a limit. Cooking better meals again. And still maintaining my weight in the healthy range - overall pretty happy with the efforts of the last 5 years. I'm the turtle in the race. Every winter focused on smaller goals and then maintenance until next winter. My success so far has been applying a gradual weight loss and making healthier habits lifestyle. And now - The Royal Wedding I woke up at 7am EST and caught the event live just as Will & Kate were returning from the church. My goodness she chose a beautiful gown - very classy. I couldn't help but smile the whole time watching and they kissed twice! So happy. The queen was even caught smiling a lot. Kate sure has a beautiful family. Her sister looked smashing too. They look in love. I wish them a bright future. I'm looking forward to the pitter patter of little feet too. Such a wonderful day. I popped onto the thread with newbie Cathy8091 - I'm hoping to coax her into joining our Merry Band! If you see her thread - please feel free to jump across and welcome her. We all need support and this is such a big family with big hearts! Have a fantastic day everyone. Happy Hump Day! The 15 minute strategy is a great coping skill. I use it a lot but mine is more along the lines of just get off your arse Peggy and do one small thing on your hit list. It will lighten your load and be gone. Using that strategy yesterday worked for me too. I was in a grouchy, feeling sorry for myself mood - so I decided to do one thing which led to another and another. Started by relocating our recycle box out of the kitchen to the utility room (we're on one level). Packed away items in the pantry better. Then I spied another tote container that needed unpacking - well didn't it have my summer clothes in there? And surprise surprise - better fitting jeans I bought a couple of summers ago when I was still heavier but wanted to be at goal weight. I discovered 4 pair of jeans that now fit and a pair of jean shorts that now fit. I was going to buy jeans and now I don't have too. Talk about perking myself up. And I accomplished a few things. Our friend popped round about then with a load of red currant plants for me to plant. Yay. It was really crappy weather outside - cold, windy and starting to rain hard so we talked him into staying for a couple of movies and dinner with us. That was a pleasant surprise. So the day just kept improving. It all started with deciding to do one thing or like the 15 minute rule. Just to get moving - even if it takes a cattle prod to get me going - once I get started I normally feel better afterwards. Last night I felt beyond tired so I had a sedative - work up at 11am!!!! DH just let me sleep. Must have needed it. My problem is getting to sleep or staying asleep. I think I've caught up again. It's noon now, finished my coffee. I'm hoping it rains a wee bit so I can get those plants in the ground (drives off the black flies). Either way I have to get outside and accomplish some more planting - still have rooted tree branches for balsam fir, butternut and hickory to plant along with my berry plants. We have another week of blackfly season to go then they start to disappear. It was spaghetti last night - today I'm eating a little lighter to compensate. It's all about balance. Maintenance. To get the weight down I've learned through WW if I know I'm going out for a big meal I can start the day before cutting back and then the following days eating lighter foods to make up for a big meal. It has worked great for me over the years. How are you doing today? What are your challenges? NH Suzanne I've never done Feng Shui. Keeping a positive flow in your home does help you mentally. My positive flow will happen as we settle into this new home - get the kitchen cupboards built, remove that clutter...get the storage cupboards with bookshelves on top built, remove that clutter - all in good time then my Feng Shui will just happen here. Happy WEDNESDAY! My professional and personal life are still incredibly hectic, but I can't complain about very much. I feel very blessed. The actual wedding will take place in DR, and they are throwing themselves a 'reception' at the end of June in a typical NJ wedding factory with 190 or so in attendance. She was going to really be laid back about the reception, but it has turned into the usual around here that costs more than an average auto!! I guess it's a NYC thing, but it is such a stressful situation for the bride. I'm so grateful that she is coming to me with lots of her concerns; she has been incredibly generous in sharing her life with me. Got to run and catch up with work. I hosted a scholarship luncheon here at the office for our local high school recipients....I'm the Scholarship Chair on our community outreach team, but as you all know, it's not my 'day job'! It is the fun part, tho! Make this week count! Love to all Dee

Well, I finished this semester with my 4.0 still intact. Woohoo! The summer session starts in a month, and I'm starting to study the first chapters in the books. I have to. It feels weird not to wander around with books and flashcards! LOL!!!

Boy did our weather change - we went from AC to heat all in one week.

Maddie, congrats on that 4.0 - that is wonderful!! I am so happy for you. I know you will breeze through the summer session.

Raeanne, that Girlfriends Weekend really sounds great. I would love that too!

Suzanne, Penns Landing is a great choice to stay in Philly. It's conveniently located to lots of things.

Raeanne, what kind of art class are you taking? Surely not painting, because I think you have THAT nailed.

Well, be careful what you wish for, I guess, as my business is BOOMING! I accepted the directorship of a brand new home health agency. We are in the "test patient" phase, trying to get ready for Survey (an inspection by the licensing board) so that we can officially open our doors. And although administration is not my goal in nursing (who ME sit behind a desk all day????) this an exciting learning experience for me. Besides this, my own little biz is hopping! I have more patients then ever!

Not sure if I mentioned this here, but my DS was accepted University! A whirlwind of excitement surrounding this milestone, let me tell you!

I have the best of intentions and will try to come back here later and tell you what I got for Mother's day....

Let's knock 'em dead out there today!
Oh, wait... not the best nursing advice I ever gave... ! Ha Ha!

Thanks for the congrat on my gpa. I hope no one thinks I'm bragging; although in a way, I am b/c I've never had this for more than a week! LOL! I want to graduate with honors (h3ll, I just want to graduate period!), so this is what I'm working toward.

Hmmm...I better get off of here, it's starting to lightning/storm-

Tikanis you too! Which University? Glad your business is booming.

As an FYI, my son at the tender age of 33 decided he wants to be nurse! He just passed his tests to become a phlebotomist so he can he can make a living while continuing school at night for nursing. He is doing so well. Finally at 33 he's pulled it together. I am so proud of him.

Donna, I am getting excited about our trip. Thanks for the suggestions.

It's cold her too and it's going to rain again. Big snarl!

Hi, everyone.

Sounds like a busy time for everyone! It's hot and humid here, 83 but temp "feels" like 90. So much for springtime - ha.

Congratulations to Maddie for her excellent grades, to Donna, for her precious puppies, to suzanne for her son becoming a nurse. (I have a cousin, who, at about the same age, changed careers from CPA to nursing. He was a tremendous comfort to my entire family when my dad was dying.) Also, Tikanis, way to go on your booming business AND your new directorship!

Not much happening here. Real involved with family stuff, but nothing exciting. Except for the pending oil spill. Yesterday the odor was very strong, even though it hasn't hit our beaches yet. Very difficult on whose reporting to believe - time will tell.

Hope everyone's week is going well.

It's Friday, YAHOO!!

I'm here, Suzanne! No fun talkin' to yourself all day!! I think it's great that your son chose nursing! The opportunities for men in the field are amazing today. If he truly has a heart for it, he will never regret it. My DS has an ethno musicology major(cultural anthropology of music) and has been accepted to UCLA. GO BRUINS! LoL! This is the program that movie studios and theaters glean from to write, produce, perform musical scores for their major productions.One of the department heads just won a grammy, another is a renown jazz musician. This is quite an opportunity for him and we are very excited!

Maddie, I think you should tell your DH that you have to take a field trip to California and come work with me for a few days : ) Wouldn't THAT be a hoot??!!

Jan, the whole oil spill ordeal is horrible! I agree; it's so hard to know WHO you can trust to report accurately these days.

Raeanne, I will be thinking of you this weekend. I hope you girlfriend's have a BLAST! DO take pics, please!

It has been such a busy week. I cannot make any plans beyond a long bath and some mindless TV right now...

MIA here......work was a series of in-house and off-site meetings last week.

CONGRATULATIONS to Maddie, Donna, Suzanne, and Raeanne (enjoy the weekend)!!

Tonight is our DSD's bachlorette party. Her mom and I will be joining them for dinner across the river from Manhattan. Then DH will pick us up so that the youngsters can move on to the REAL partying. I spoke yesterday to DH's ex to see if she was interested in staying after dinner (they don't have reservations for dinner until 9:30!); she agreed that we are too old to start the drinking after midnight. LOL!!!

We are all so busy with the wedding plans; trying to figure out how to get my gown on board the plane without problems. I refuse to pack it and check it with luggage on the way to the Dominican Republic! No way!

OK, gotta run to the grocery store. I was out with old friends last night and only had 4 1/2 hours sleep. I need a nap before tongiht.

Dee, your weekend sounds exciting. The wedding is in the Dominican? Wow! I wouldn't pack that gown either. Have fun tonight!

Well, I WAS going to get up at the crack of dawn and head for the bay to kayak, but "Jammie fest" won out and I am sipping my 2nd cup of coffee at the computer instead. Ha Ha!

I wanted to mention the GREAT gift I got for Mother's Day.
Tickets to a Crosby, Still & Nash concert-by-kayak on Mission Bay with my 2 kids and nephew! Is that a unique gift, or WHAT??

Well, off to freshen up this coffee, sort thru the junk mail, plant the pumpkins, run to the garden store, start painting porch furniture, change a bike tire, wash the car, go grocery shopping.....

Good evening.

Lots of rain and thunder in the background. Getting ready to watch "The Hangover." Spent the last couple of days with my mom. So much fun. We bought and I planted flowers for her, weeded, etc. She was so happy. We went to see "Letters from Juliette." Wonderful movie! We all wanted to go to Italy after seeing it. So romantic. Franco Nero is still sexy, at 68 years old! Is anyone here old enough to remember "Camelot" (I think the year was 1969?) when he played Sir Lancelot? Oh, gosh, he was handsome. And Vanessa Redgrave was quite a beauty, too.

Tikanis - I LOVED Crosby, Still, Nash & Young (tells you how old I was, when Neill Young was still in the group!) Such beautiful music.

Better get ready for the movie. Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
