Look who is backing up Raeanne! LOL!

Work is insane, so I am really looking forward to "getting away" with Raeanne and Suzanne this weekend. Should be a fun time with lots of pictures to share.

I certainly hope that this is the beginning of a good week for everyone.

I am MIA myself - SO HI EVERYONE! I have to go back and READ to CATCH UP!

I have a ton of work to do today....because...

I am going to pick up a 6-week-old baby tomorrow morning - fragile and failure-to-thrive. I'll have her for a week. Ahhhh - sleepless nights, here I come. She has a brain shunt and can't go more than 3 hours without eating. We are going to help her gain weight!

As well, I was busy this weekend --I am getting my yard and house ready to sell. I am not happy about THAT, but it is the only option at this point. I will get over it because HOME is wherever your loved ones are!

I will email pictures around of baby, then house!

Hope all is well. My GF's lumpectomy went well on Wed/Thurs. Hopefully, all the test will be clear. We'll find out at 4pm.

Maddie! How'd your horse do in the Derby????

Happy Hump Day! The 15 minute strategy is a great coping skill. I use it a lot but mine is more along the lines of just get off your arse Peggy and do one small thing on your hit list. It will lighten your load and be gone. Using that strategy yesterday worked for me too. I was in a grouchy, feeling sorry for myself mood - so I decided to do one thing which led to another and another. Started by relocating our recycle box out of the kitchen to the utility room (we're on one level). Packed away items in the pantry better. Then I spied another tote container that needed unpacking - well didn't it have my summer clothes in there? And surprise surprise - better fitting jeans I bought a couple of summers ago when I was still heavier but wanted to be at goal weight. I discovered 4 pair of jeans that now fit and a pair of jean shorts that now fit. I was going to buy jeans and now I don't have too. Talk about perking myself up. And I accomplished a few things. Our friend popped round about then with a load of red currant plants for me to plant. Yay. It was really crappy weather outside - cold, windy and starting to rain hard so we talked him into staying for a couple of movies and dinner with us. That was a pleasant surprise. So the day just kept improving. It all started with deciding to do one thing or like the 15 minute rule. Just to get moving - even if it takes a cattle prod to get me going - once I get started I normally feel better afterwards. Last night I felt beyond tired so I had a sedative - work up at 11am!!!! DH just let me sleep. Must have needed it. My problem is getting to sleep or staying asleep. I think I've caught up again. It's noon now, finished my coffee. I'm hoping it rains a wee bit so I can get those plants in the ground (drives off the black flies). Either way I have to get outside and accomplish some more planting - still have rooted tree branches for balsam fir, butternut and hickory to plant along with my berry plants. We have another week of blackfly season to go then they start to disappear. It was spaghetti last night - today I'm eating a little lighter to compensate. It's all about balance. Maintenance. To get the weight down I've learned through WW if I know I'm going out for a big meal I can start the day before cutting back and then the following days eating lighter foods to make up for a big meal. It has worked great for me over the years. How are you doing today? What are your challenges? NH Suzanne I've never done Feng Shui. Keeping a positive flow in your home does help you mentally. My positive flow will happen as we settle into this new home - get the kitchen cupboards built, remove that clutter...get the storage cupboards with bookshelves on top built, remove that clutter - all in good time then my Feng Shui will just happen here. Hello from London! (I wish!) DeeMarie - June 19th is when her new book, Lean Mean Thirteen comes out. I got 2 B&N GCs from my students, so I will be first in line to get it. I had previously pre-ordered it, but they were holding the rest of my order until June, so I canceled it and ordered something else. Now I am Ready, Willing and Able to start my summer reading. (((DONNA))) - Sending much love and many prayers your way. I have one more graduation to get through tonight, and I only say "get through" because of the way I feel. I finally broke down and made a doctor's appt. for tomorrow. This cough just won't go away and now I have a sinus headache to go along with the cough. Hopefully I will feel better by the weekend. NHSuzanne - How are you feeling? How are the chicks coming along? Raeanne - My DH has this habit of planting trees and then chopping them down when he thinks they are too big, the roots too close to the house or whatever. I came home from work one day this spring and he had chopped down 4 large pine trees that we had planted when we moved in in 1979. He also dinged the house while cutting them down, so I was not happy with him that day. Granted they were getting too tall and spindly, but they hid the neighbor's house from view and believe me when I say that was a good thing. Good luck with your landscaper. Good morning all, Back from DC and all I can say is WOW! My head is still spinning! We had a very powerful and moving weekend. I know that Rolling Thunder sounds like a bike rally of the normal kind but let me tell you this was not. We left NH on Thursday morning at 9am and headed for Philadelphia. Traffic wasnt bad until we got into Hartford (which is always crazy). I must say that being a motorcycle driver made my being a passenger a bit unnerving! Mark is a great driver but I had no control back there and that was disconcerting at times. Just past Hartford we met up with a huge group of bikes (40+) heading to DC. At first it seemed like a good thing to be behind them but the like to ride the lines and were in the middle lane, 2 astride, with cars and truck trying to pass on the left and right. Not comfortable so we got off the highway to regroup. I donÂt know why they ride the lines like that but itÂs really not fair to people trying to pass. Back on the road we were passed many, many times by bikes rolling in the same directions. It was fun. When we got to Philadelphia around 3pm we were pretty road weary. Our room was an absolute gorgeous sanctuary with a commanding view of the Ben Franklin Bridge and the mighty Delaware river. The room was gorgeously decorated in turquoise and brown and the sheets were soft cotton with down pillowsÂÂÂ.ahhhhhhhh. I loved it! We walked along the Delaware and popped over to Old City to mill around. We did not see any of the sights there because we were tired and hungry. We ate in a nice place along the river and had a great dinner. We headed out early to DC in the morning with a 3 hour drive ahead of us and we wanted to beat the holiday traffic. It was a grueling ride in but we made it. We checked into our hotel (another little sanctuary from the madness). Saturday, we cruised around and did all the monuments. It was amazing. I have never been to DC except in passing. The monuments are truly amazing as is the way the city is laid out; it reminds me a lot of Paris only smaller. All of the monuments were powerful but I have to say that the Korean War Memorial was amazing. I would love to see it at night someday - it was really haunting. Iwo Jima was amazing tooÂthey were all amazing. All the while we were visiting DC the air was filled with the sound of bikes rumbling everywhere like well, Rolling Thunder. It was really neat. I even got my horse fix watching the mounted police on their extra tall horses. Sunday morning - the big day. We got up at 5:00 am to head over to the Pentagon parking lot which was the assembly area for the demonstration. We got over there at 6am and there were already hundreds and hundreds of bikes there! The procession order was on a first come first go basis. Nothing would start moving until noon so we had a long wait in the hot parking lot. We people watched, met new people and tried to keep cool with the bikes just kept coming and coming and coming, and when the Pentagon lot was full more bikes were directed to the other parking lot. It is estimated that about 6,000 participated in the demonstration and that Washington had about a million motorcycles over the weekend. Just before noon the an Air force jet flew over us! At noon the thunder started rolling and that just gave me chills. In about a half an hour we were on our way. We headed up a ramp that was lined with people waving flags, we started across the Memorial Bridge and at the beginning of the bridge there were a bunch of soldiers holding huge flags, once turned onto the bridge there were officers standing at full attention and saluting! We followed Constitution Avenue, around the Mall and down Independence Avenue to the Wall. There we were directed into a field by mounted police! Then we just watched all the thousands of others behind us come in. It was amazing. I have to say that this organization, Rolling Thunder has done a great deal in the last 23 years to bring attention to the plight of our POWÂs, MIAÂs and VetÂs issues. I certainly will never forget this experience. Left DC at 4am and got home late Monday afternoon and THANK GOD I took Tuesday off! I mowed all day long except for a couple of hours to get Sweet Pea out for her first drive. She did really well. Well Wodka, I weighed this morning. It appears I'm on a plateau - neiher up nor down. That's a lot beter though than an increase. I did go yeserday. Had quite a time. I don't drive all that much anymore and because of all the consruction I went a different way - one that I'm not that familiar with. When I came to one town there was a detour because of construction - a lengthy one. Anyway got around that all right. Got to the next town and made a wrong turn and didn't realize it until I saw the name on a nursing home and realized I wasn't supposed to be anywhere near it. Turned around and found my way. When I got to the nursing home, my friend had a bad cold and they strongly advised ,for my own sake, that I not go in to see her. I was sorry about that but didn't want to get sick myself and bring the flu home to others. I asked them not to tell her that I had been here. I came home a different way than I went. Still not that familiar with part of it but all worked out fine. The weather was nice and I did run a few other errands so I don't consider it was time wasted. The fact I didn't see my friend gives me an excuse to go again in a couple of weeks. Bet I don't go the same route!!! I don't intend to do too much to-day. This old girl gets exhausted easily. Anyway I had a good sleep last night and a good walk with the dog this morning. Have a good one everybody.

Good Tuesday all,

Spring has sprung and I spent my day mowing our two fields. 5 hours later I am happy to be done...for now!

Jan, I am thinking of you always and hope you are well. Check in when you can. You know we are here for you.

BJ, I hope your friend's test is negative. Whew, hope you got through your busy day.

It's finally Friday! Why is it that even though I'm not working, there is still something magical about Friday? LOL

Raeanne,Suzanne, and Dee - have a wonderful girls' weekend and hoist one for me! I'd love to attend something like that.

Jan, I think of you daily and send up positive thoughts and prayers for you. Please come and post. Keeping things to yourself isn't always the best.

Marci, it's getting closer to time for that end of school happy dance! I'm sure it will be bittersweet for you, but think of how much playtime you'll have!

I hope everyone's doing well. I spent the morning with my friend helping her pack more things. The reality of her leaving is finally hitting both of us, and it's sad. We both realized today that this time next week, she'll be in Wisconsin, and that hit hard. :(

Jan, I have been MIA and was just catching up and learned the sad news about your husband. Hugs, prayers and love to you. Cancer is an awful disease. I lost my dad to it 4 years ago the 19th of this month.

Maddie, congratulations! Well done and well deserved.

Amy, I am sorry about Heather. It is a difficult thing when our furry babies are sick and in pain. Making decisions, even when you know they are right,is never easy. Hugs to you.

To all of your ladies at girlfriends weekend have a blast! Maybe next year I will be able to make it. Looking forward to lots of pictures.

I sooo wish you could all be here with us. It is a wonderful event, our Raeanne is responsible for most of the planning and activities. wonder Woman! The seminars, dinner was a hoot last night, beautiful suroundimgs..you should all join us next year. seriously, you all deserve it!

I've been missing this week too. Weight went up a bit this week but I'm not worrying about it. 19 treatments finished, 11 more to go. Starting to get quite red but really doing well, I think. Probably when they are all over I'll be totally exhausted. That is usually what happens to me. I'm fine while the pressure is on, but totally all in, when it is over.

Had a probelem wih my computer for 4 days but it is behaving itself now, after many many hours of work done by my son.

All the best to all of you. Will talk to you again next week

Hi, everyone.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. It has been a month since I lost Bobby, and I am just going through the motions. So much to do, and just can't shake being overwhelmed.

I'm trying to be "normal." My neighbors have had me to dinner several nights, again tonight. My friend who used to help with my pre-Katrina yard called and invited me to go to a movie with his friend. He knew how much I loved the book "Water for Elephants" so we went to see the movie. (Robert Pattison is so gorgeous, and Hal Holbrook makes me cry.)

Our best friends who live out of town call at least once a day to check on me. I've gotten where I report in to them, like a teenager, if I'm going to be out. We've made a joke out of it, but it warms my heart that they care so much.

Ivamae, I'm so glad you're handling radiation so well. Have they given you any cream for your redness? There's no reason you should have any discomfort while enduring treatment. When my sister was having radiation, I remember finding a cream online, actually created by a doctor whose wife had gone through radiation while battling (and winning) her fight against breast cancer. My sister said it helped a lot. He had a complete line of related products, such as shampoo, etc. If I can find more info, I'll let you know.

Again, thanks to all of you for thinking of me. The girls' weekend sounds like so much fun - I also can't wait to hear all about it.
