You might want to see if his wife can slip a good tasting protein/fiber drink into his diet; it will help a little bit. There's a brand called Boost; it's hard to find the Fiber-added one, easier to find the High-Protein variety. The chocolate is amazingly good, it's much better tasting and lower in sodium than Ensure. Lactose-treated so won't upset those who are lactose-deficient. Parkinson's eats away at the body because of the constant tremors. Even for the wife it might be a good idea to add something to her diet. As one ages, appetite decreases, and it gets more difficult to eat enough to get sufficient vitamin/mineral intake. We've had to put 83-yr-old MIL on both liquid multi-vitamin supplements and a daily Boost drink, because there were days I saw that her protein intake was less than 4g/daily, way under what she should have.

Yes, it is a grand show, with his mature movie star looks, his delivery, and his dramatization of the subject. Very slick. But, actually, Kathy, we may well be aware of basic nutrition, but what hits you is when you see the choices side by side. You see that you can eat tons of delicious, nutritional and healthy foods and watch the calories. Perhaps, we should not readily accept simple choices like a chicken caesar salad for lunch, and think about other fine choices that have a quarter of the calories. It's easy for us to rationalize that two cookies would not hurt as a snack, but when you see the tableful of healthy foods which is equal calories-wise to those cookies, it strikes home. We would be better off to eat a quarter of what's on the table. I'm as guilty as anyone else. There are times, when I have probably had a 5,000+ calories day, because I've eaten a bag of Lay's chips (not in several months), plus three squares. Really, that is unnecessary.

Most of these reviews/responses are from people that only read and hear what they want to hear about the "HCG" diet, and probably anything else they don't understand! I think they missed the part about the maintenance program "resetting" your metabolism, and of course encouraging healthy eating and exercise. I think the reason why Dr. Oz stayed neutral is because it works! I will not tell you it is right for everyone, but I will tell you it works 100% of the time, for 100% of the people that do the program correct, how do I know...I have personally lost 110 pounds in 135 days, have contributed to a book on HCG, and have helped well over 100 people. I am not selling you anything, or even giving out my name, simply want people to understand that this works, but only if you are willing to give it a chance to owrk; otherwise find a program that works for you, either way quit posting ignorant posts and possibly disuading people from this or any other program that may help them, especially when you do not understand it! Yikes. That doesn't sound healthy at all. Avoiding starch and refined carbs is always a good idea but that much protein seems dangerous. Also, no fruit until "stabilization" seems like a bad idea. I can see how people will lose weight but it's not due to it being a healthy diet, but rather people's inability to eat vast quantities of meat. IMO you'll see better results with unlimited fruits and veggies, legumes, and some complex carbs on occasion. No white flour, white rice, sugar, or grains other than 100% whole wheat or sprouted wheat and even that in moderation. Make sure to eat some plant-based fat like avocados but minimize salt and oil. The weight will fall off rapidly if you follow this - I guarantee it, and you won't be malnourished like you can be in high protein diets. People think that because they eat a lot, they aren't malnourished but you certainly can get that way if you don't ingest ample amounts of produce a day to get all of the vitamins and minerals. I think people eat too much protein. We've morphed into a protein-obsessed country. The only protein I eat is sourced from leafy greens and beans and my blood levels are perfect. Just my advice. :) I hope you find what works for you. Diets are a very personal decision.
