Thanks for sharing the very interesting article. I have a bread I love in the UK - its a multigrain, seeded batch loaf. I actually can purchase it in two sizes - normal sandwich sized or smaller size about the size of an english muffin. I buy the smaller one and enjoy two slices. I appreciate the extra costs involved in processing but at the end of the day, if I were back home in Canada, I would just buy the Dempsters and go for taste. Cheers,

It is interesting, isn't it, that not necessarily the brand name association (in this case Atkin's) or higher price necessarily means a better choice. For the benefit expectation of low carb, there is really not that much difference between a "regular" store brand bread and the "big" name bread. Interesting also that Atkin's has more fat. I have always eaten the Dempster's seven grain anyways, I like the nutty rich taste and texture.

I bought one of those "low carb" breads and then compared it to my regular bread. Turns out my regular bread has less carbs and calories, and is more than half the price!
