I figured heat stressed plants could benefit from it, that's why I got it. On searching the web the most I found was people who got not much result. Some quicker root growth on grasses and a few orchid growers that were believers was the best I could find. People who grow pot seem to use it a lot over here. They also use it for stressed plants. (growing pot is our national illegal hobby) I guess it won't hurt my broms if I use it, or do I have to be carefull with this stuff? The advertising looks like the ones in 1970's comic books selling x-ray specs. That doesn't do it any good if it works. Sander

Zands, I agree that its not necessary to "Pug" any or all mango trees. I think "pugging" is only suggested for people that want to try and grow their trees "short and wide" trying to achive a shorter trunk...as opposed to letting nature take its course and letting the tree grow naturally. Pugging is best for people that grow in pots/containers or if they have a small yard and want to maintain a more Dwarf tree for easy protection from freeze and if the trees are short...an added bonus is much easier to pick the fruits. If you notice Harry's tree, it has a much taller trunk than what a "pugged" tree would have. But, it is definitely not necessary to "pug" mango trees at all. They will branch out on their own regardless if you pugged it or not. Main difference is it will grow much taller and will reach its maximum height. I pug mine basically because I want to keep my trees small and short so its easier to take care of.

I take Andrew Lessman's Maximum Complete High Potency Vitamins and Calcium Citrate which I get from a Vitamin store locally. I've been a believer in taking vitamins all my adult life. When I developed osteo-arthritus 2yrs. ago I started doing a lot of research to prevent my problem from getting worse. One of the things I learned was that vitamins that come in a capsule form (like Andrew Lessmans)are easier to digest rather than the tablet ones. I recently read an article on the different types of Calcium and the Calcium Citrate was rated the best form.

I put no credence at all in anybody's promotion of "super foods", vitamins, diets, or supplements as a means to health. I don't think our bodies are that biologically simplistic. I also think we have become overly preoccupied with health/illness issues. You can hardly get away these days from prompts to think about sickness and I don't believe it makes us any healthier, although it may serve to defend against anxiety about about our inevitable mortality. But paradoxically I think it makes people feel even more anxious about the possibility of sickness during life. Medical providers (legitimate and illegitimate) and the media all pander to this paradox because it makes money for them. Real advances in medical knowledge are news, but the endless recycling of that info into promotional programs, menus, diet and health advice and regimens, etc. are just out to capitalize (literally) on our media-fanned fears. Except for personally-specific advice provided by your doctor (and in these days of BigPharma and medical device-promoted influence on MDs, even that should be weighed carefully, I guess), don't read or listen to too much else about health. It's all intended to support one revenue-stream or another. Even "newsletters" from seemingly reliable sources (like Mayo, WebMD, etc,) while not selling you a specific product are still selling your attention to advertisers or promoting themselves. That's how the business models work. Newspapers and TV reports are the same: they are attracting your attention in a time-honored and effective way to expose you to their advertisers' pitches. Even if the information is accurate, you are "paying" by having your attention drawn to sickness or poor health possibilities, even for a short span. And cumulatively it all adds up to a pervasive mind-set of ill-health-consciousness. L.
