RECIPE: Honey-Orange Spicecake

This was in our paper this morning and sounds good!

Honey-Orange Spicecake

3/4c honey
1/3c veg. oil
1/4 c orange juice
2 eggs
1/1/2c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp ground cloves
Orange Syrup
1/2 c honey
1/4 c orange juice
2 tsp orange zest

Using electric mixer, combine honey, oil,and orange juice; beat in eggs. In separate bowl combine dry ingredients; gradually add to honey-egg mixture, mixing til blended.
Pour into a lightly greased and floured 9x9" baking pan. Bake in preheated 350° oven for 25-30 min. or til tests done. Remove from oven and immediately cut into 9 squares. Pour hot syrup evenly over cake in pan.
To make syrup:
In small saucepan, combine honey, orange juice, and zest.Bring just to a boil and pour hot syrup over cake.
Yield: 9 servings

I really like spice cake. Not as popular as it was years ago so I'm glad to see a recipe for it.
