Pie crust...
3 cups of flour
1/2 pound frozen butter cut into dice.
Cut the 2 together, I use a food processor, with 1/4 tsp salt unless using unsalted butter...then add 2/3 tsp salt.
Add 4 tablespoons of vodka and toss with a fork...add about 4 T of ice water until the dough will form a ball....chill 30 to 40 minutes, divide in half and roll out.

Or...
2 cups flour
2/3 cup crisco or lard
3/4 tsp salt
7 T ice water...or as much as needed to form a ball of the dough.
Makes 2 8 or 9 inch crusts.

Here Aare Two Very Good Websites that could possibly help you:

http://www.pbs.org/juliachild/tricks/pastry.html#
(note that Julia says to add shortening in "tandem", two seperate applications...this will result in some smaller particles of fat and some larger particles. Which I think is important!)
