RECIPE: Perfect Hot Milk Cake & Frosting

| I am going to make the famous Hot Milk Cake and Frosting so highly respected here in just a couple minutes. I made it once before and found it a tad dry (cake) and the frosting not quite as creamy as I'd like. Don't get me wrong. If that was the best it ever tasted, I would still make it again.
This time I am putting the cake in 2 8x8s instead of 9x13. Should it be baked less time accordingly? And any suggestions on how not to let the frosting get gritty...how to keep it smoother.
Thanks |

| I've made Pixistix' hot milk cake. Is that the one you mean? Anyway, I didn't frost it but if your frosting is gritty, it needs to be beaten more so the sugar dissolves (which is what makes it gritty.) Just watch the cake & test it with a toothpick. The one I made wasn't dry at all so maybe you baked it a bit too long. |
