RECIPE: Perfect Hot Milk Cake & Frosting

Posted by ktee (My Page) on

I am going to make the famous Hot Milk Cake and Frosting so highly respected here in just a couple minutes. I made it once before and found it a tad dry (cake) and the frosting not quite as creamy as I'd like. Don't get me wrong. If that was the best it ever tasted, I would still make it again.

This time I am putting the cake in 2 8x8s instead of 9x13. Should it be baked less time accordingly? And any suggestions on how not to let the frosting get gritty...how to keep it smoother.

Thanks

I've made Pixistix' hot milk cake. Is that the one you mean? Anyway, I didn't frost it but if your frosting is gritty, it needs to be beaten more so the sugar dissolves (which is what makes it gritty.)

Just watch the cake & test it with a toothpick. The one I made wasn't dry at all so maybe you baked it a bit too long.
